Trump must forgo the trivia and avoid the traps set by Hillary and the moderators and focus on the essentials, the issues like the economy that really matter to the American people
Back in 1992, political consultant James Carville coined the phrase “the economy, stupid” as one of the three top campaign messages for the presidential campaign of Bill Clinton. While it was initially designed for only the Clinton staff, it eventually became the overall message of the campaign and the main rationale why the incumbent President George H. W. Bush should be defeated. Of course, it worked and Bill Clinton was elected President over an incumbent who enjoyed a 90% approval rating the year before the election.
You are correct. It has to be about the economy and I’ll add to that safety (illegal immigration and refugees).
I’ll add that I am disappointed in the tapes that were released today. I get my hopes up but then something stupid like this gets released. We still must defeat hillary.
Hillary is going to bring that up in the debate. Trump needs to say, "Yes, I was indiscrete. But unlike you, Hillary, my indiscretions didn't get multiple Americans killed." Turn it right around and smack her with something far more serious.
The economy during the last year of George H.W. Bush was wonderful compared to what we’ve lived with the last 8 years.

No. I don’t think so but that doesn’t make the situation better. You’ll see over the next few days.
Tens of millions of people don’t care about the economy because they’re on food stamps et al.
Hammer about the border. Hammer about sanctuary cities. Hammer about the diseases being brought into our country.
Good one. Hillary will bait him, and he WILL take the bait. Trump needs to have some well rehearsed one liners in his repertoire ready to throw it back to Hillary. Hillary is a seasoned politician...when she gets thrown a can of worms, she throws an insult at Trump, and thus evades responding to whatever was flung at her, while Trump then goes on defense. It was so obvious at the first debate, but I think he learned his lesson. This 10 year old remark was unfair and I’m sure the Dems. have others ready to dump on him.
It’s not just about the economy. That’s not going to work. Thanks to the Republican Establishment, the American people don’t know Obama is responsible for it not recovering.
