Asked to define the middle class, Hillary fails - drifts into miserable, meaningless, word salad

Cowardly

Hillary Clinton has vowed, many, many, times, not to “raise taxes on the middle class.” The middle class, she’ll argue, must be protected, encouraged, nurtured, and grown. That’s super, but if you ask her to define the middle class, things tend not to go so well. In fact, it appears she doesn’t really know what she thinks the middle class actually is.

Take a look at what happened when a reporter asked her for a concrete definition of Hillary’s favorite voting bloc:

TOPICS: Business/Economy; Government; Politics; Society
KEYWORDS: clinton; hillary; hillaryclinton; hillarycomment; hillarymiddleclass; middleclass

She was desperately trying not to turn off the Bernie voters...trying to ‘splain why she would raise people’s taxes when they make $200k.

Considering the government imputes wealth to anyone who owns a home — calling them wealthy — makes me think the “middle class” must be the people at the bottom who currently pay very little to no taxes.

Indeed. Also consider that it is said that 40 percent of Americans pay no income tax. Much of the other 60 percent pay some income tax, and a much smaller slice pay the majority of income tax. A lot of people who consider themselves middle class, are actually in the lower class. If they're part of the 40 percent paying no income tax, most likely they are poor. The actual middle class is at the lower end of that 60 percent who pay some income tax. Those who own a home are at the middle end of that 60 percent, and Hillary would deem them wealthy. (Middle end of that 60 percent of payers would be at about 70 percent level of Americans wealth-wise.)

Seriously, does anyone think Hillary wouldn't hike taxes on those middle class Americans?

According to the hated and entrenched status quo class, if you have any job at all, your’re not paying your fair share

Here’s a transcript of these brilliant words from the brilliant Hillary Clinton, who aspires to be President of the United States:

REPORTER: So, you talk a lot about the middle class, you have throughout the campaign. I’m hoping that you can help define it for me? And I’m thinking like both numerically .... in terms of policy, tax policy, where do you put the middle Class. And then also philosophically, what is the middle class to you, what does it mean?

HILLARY CLINTON: Well, the middle class is uh, the, uh, social and economic engine of our country. It is, in, uh, so many ways a reflection of the success of the United States from the very beginning, uh, to create greater economic opportunity for people willing to work for it. And it has been one of the premier historic accomplishments of our country going back, uh, decades if not longer.

And the middle class is uh, a, a, hard to define economic target. The way I talk about it is to say, we know what the median income in America is, but if you’re living in high cost areas, if you have, uh, kids you’re trying to educate and send to college, uh, if you face, uh, health care costs that are beyond, uh, the average, uh, staying in and progressing up in the middle class takes more money in some parts of America than it does in others.

So my pledge has been that I will not raise taxes on the middle class and I have defined it as I will not raise taxes on anyone making less than $250,000. Because in high cost places in America, that is a, uh, uh, in many ways, a cut-off that makes sense. It’s something that President Obama had, uh, uh, adhered to, it’s something my husband adhered to because when you look at the information and across the country I mean housing is so much more expensive in lots of places and other places and you understand why we’ve set it at that.

So the middle class is both real and aspirational and I want to make sure that it remains strong and it gives people a sense of security and confidence and optimism about their futures.

Blah blah blah middle class (twitchy eye) well. Hard to blah (twitchy eye) blah.

The usual non-answer.
The eye is so much more noticeable the days.

The next drinking game should be every time she says “uh” or “um”.

Your transcript is so much more succinct. LOL.

I still don’t know what her definition of the middle class is except she bases it on how much money someone makes.

My definition of “middle class” is someone or a family that doesn’t have to root in a dumpster for food and has a roof over their head and could live comfortably if they so choose. Their yearly income really doesn’t have a lot to do with it. But that’s just me. I’m not the smartest woman in the world so what do I know.

My definition of “low class” has nothing to do with how much money someone makes or has. There are many low class people that have a lot of money but they lie, cheat and steal and have no moral compass.
