This stuff is great. I buy an off brand for as little as $1.00 a can (CDN$). That's 75 cents US$ per can.

What other foodstuff keeps forever and comes with it's own opener? Slice off medium slices and fry it up for breakfast.

My father worked some for the company. Years ago, he said the old-timers confirmed SPAM as short for ‘spiced ham’, although it is actually pork shoulder meat.

**Stuff Posing As Meat.**
Shoulder, Pork and Ham. SPAM.

You are thinking of that horrible TREET and now some truly horrible turkey and chicken based versions.

I love the scene in ISLAND IN THE SKY. Plane crashes in the Frozen North, starving men. When supplies are dropped the first thing John Wayne did was pull out the packets of SPAM and throw them as far away as he could.
Bill Mauldin did a cartoon of a Liberty Ship unloading it’s cargo of food supplies to the USSR in WWII. The confused Russians are studying their Russian-English translation book trying to figure out what MAZOLA and SPAM is.

Me? I like SPAM. Made many a meal out of it at the hooch in Thailand (1969). The annex was closer than the chow hall by several miles.
