And now that it's failed, the bluffers don't know how to back away from their foolishness
Mark Levin is no ideological guru to me, but he is to a lot of conservatives, and some of them were upset with him this past week when he abandoned his prior #NeverTrump position and acknowledged that stopping Hillary is simply far more important than continuing to cling to that hashtagged hysteria. This brought Levin no shortage of blowback from other #NeverTrumpers, and hes not the first to catch heat for caving and advocating the only action that has a chance of stopping Hillary.
As you observe this phenomenon - #NeverTrumper folds, other #NeverTrumpers fly into a rage - its important to remember something about #NeverTrump that explains why all this is happening. #NeverTrump was a determined and desperate attempt by some (though certainly not all) movement conservatives to bully other Republican primary voters into opposing Donald Trump while the primary season was still going on.
The thing about #nevertrumpers is they cannot articulate why they oppose him now that he is the nominee
Well said.
Levin took a look at his ratings and changed his tune.
These people are just so incensed over Trumps win in the primaries that they just refuse to cede legitimacy to his candidacy for President-
I have also noticed they NEVER mention the supreme court. They also ignore the list of outstanding judges Donald Trump said he would pick from.
The closet liberals have outed themselves. I’m through with them.
So, how bad could it get? Let's just think about a truly liberal Supreme Court for the next 20-30 years. Every 5-4 decision of the last 20 years reversed. Unlimited Presidential power. Unlimited regulatory authority. Forced unionization by a radical NLRB. That doesn't even consider the consequences of a dismantled military unable to prevent Islamists seizing the Middle East and launching renewed terror attack. I am going to stop because I could write the rest of the afternoon how bad things could get. The Obama regime has to be thrown out - this year.
The only thing they articulate are Hillary talking points of Alt Right or BLM talking points like Cruz did.
In other words, they remind me of French “patriots” during WWII who used Nazi talking points (ie. the gestapo) to denounce communist neighbors...
Follow the money.
This goes with the base-money split in the Republican party. The base wants things that the money will not go along with - i.e., immigration
Most conservative pundits and think tanks and publications make their living off a few big funders. Hence National Review.
Levin was different because he doesn’t depend on big funders so the power of the market worked on him.
Not sure why the Beck followers see themselves as oracles of conservatism. It downright irks me. Besides, a true conservative never stakes himself in a president, but in anti-federalism and state rights. The Federal presidency is not where conservatives should dispute, because it always will suck at one level or another.
“NeverTrump was a determined and desperate attempt by some (though certainly not all) movement conservatives to bully other Republican primary voters into opposing Donald Trump while the primary season was still going on.”
And that is where it should have stopped.
When Cruz left the race, it was time for everyone (voters included) to come to terms with reality, and support our nominee. It was destructive to the overall cause for the NeverTrumpers to continue their insanity beyond that point, and even AFTER the convention.
Especially given the fact that Trump is running on the boldest conservative agenda we’ve seen since Reagan.
I wouldn’t spit on a NeverTrumper if they were on fire, and that includes that nutjob, Mark Levin.
Idiots! Do they really want Hillary Clinton as president of the US?!
Because right now the choice is Trump or Hillary.
“Levin took a look at his ratings and changed his tune.”
His heart hasn’t changed. He’s still in thrall to the Cubanadian fraud.
I was a loyal listener for nearly ten years, but he lost me for good with his despicable treatment of Trump and his supporters.
“Levin was different because he doesnt depend on big funders so the power of the market worked on him.”
Did it really? Levin only begrudgingly announced that he’ll vote for Trump, but in the next breath he was trashing him again.
He hasn’t changed a bit, the phoney.
He lost a morning slot on a local station in Michigan after Bennett retired from his daily show ...
Exactly. This is the Republican friendly-fire version of "selected, not elected."
I hope people remember that Democrats were stalling on giving George W. Bush transition funds to jump-start putting his administration in place, and were dragging out confirming Bush's nominees when 9/11 happened in 2001.
Is this what we're going to see again in 2017 if people are successful in delegitimizing Trump?

Cruz, Levin, Will, Beck, Limbaugh, et al, ad infinitum, were never true conservatives. Like children with newspaper hats and wooden swords, pretending to be something there were not. They had many fooled. Rather then admitting to themselves they were wrong or blaming those who misled them, they attack those who vanquished them.
Don’t forget Jonah Goldberg.
Now: #HeyWaitForMe
It was also a mere cover for the GOPe and Cruz to unite... in the destructive desperate death throes of his campaign.
A terrible blunder.
