Ever wondered what it would be like to go hog hunting with an elephant gun? If youve ever wondered what a 750 grain bullet fired from a .577 Nitro would do to a feral hog, then you need to see this video.
Not only is a double rifle a stylish piece of gear for hunting dangerous game in Africa, but it is quite effective against feral hogs as well.
For reference, a typical .30-06 Springfield hunting bullet weighs 165-180 grains. Though this is not small by any means, it is dwarfed by the 293 gr bullet fired by the 9.3x74mm and is absolutely tiny compared to the 750 gr bullets that the .577 Nitro Express shoots.
Though that extreme level of power is not really necessary when hunting hogs, a .577 Nitro is just what the doctor ordered for dealing with a charging cape buffalo. Not surprisingly, a bullet that is designed to reliably stop a charging elephant has no trouble penetrating the entire length of a feral hog. See the video here.

They make big pigs. But nearly big enough to have to use a 570 Nitro on one. That thing will knock an elephant off its feet.

Re: pigs in groups, In TX they aim carefully on the first shot and then spray the group thereafter, and I think this round would have value in that it would go through a pig and hit another pig before it was spent, and I think that’s a good thing.
Sadly, it probably shoots through schools, too.

I was hunting wild hogs and go charged by a huge one. My rifle jammed, so I threw it down and resorted to karate.
I gave it a "pork" chop.

You’re lucky that you didn’t end up as long pig chops.

Is it just coincidence that this wild bore thread comes right after the M. Obama National Enquirer thread? Just wondering.

You would think that a .577 Nitro hit would blast a pig into scattered body parts.
