The fissile core perhaps is as low as 1.5 ton of fuel for an advanced MSR. Thorium is slightly radioactive but does not fission releasing energy with neutron bombardment. It sucks up neutrons (energy) and can be much later processed into a fuel. Any actual reactor would need substantial shielding once it ever goes critical, adding more weight.

The other possibility is a spallation source bombarding a non-critical nuclear fuel target to cause fission and release energy. Such a neutron source requires more energy input than can be in practice extracted from the resultant reaction.

Counting hydroelectric in the renewable column? Wind and solar counted as nameplate maximum output, or actual annual average output?

Wrong. Don’t try to impress us all with your stupidity.

I watched a tesla get destroyed in traffic the other day and go up in flames. They melt really fast. It was an accident that a regular car would have been repairable, but this thing was just pa pool of junk on the road.

>> Based on what price of gas? $5/gallon?? <<

I’m not discussing cost of energy; I’m discussing consumption of energy.

Counting hydroelectric in the renewable column? Yes. Although the share of renewable energy created by hydroelectric has crashed in recent years from about 80% ten years ago to 40% currently.

Wind and solar counted as nameplate maximum output, or actual annual average output? MWh generated, so actual annual average output.

You do realize that we’re waaaayyyy past the days of the Tesla Roadster, don’t you? Tesla now makes luxury sedans.

Oh, to be sure! I was only noting the extreme ignorance of Travis T. OJustice, not the initial author.

For one thing, as we rely on petroleum less and less, it will become cheaper and cheaper. Which means it will stay competitive with electricity, even when electricity is largely from renewables.
