We talked last week about how just about everyone is getting Donald Trump’s position on immigration wrong. He is not going to round up 11 million people and deport them. Never was. Never will. What he’s said all along was that everyone in the U.S. illegally will be subject to deportation, which means that unlike Obama and Hillary he’s not going to concede up front that they’ll be given a pass for breaking the law. He will prioritize those who are lawbreakers or otherwise causing problems in deciding who to deport, but no one just gets - for lack of a better term - flat out amnesty.
You might not get deported. But legal authorities are not going to declare you above the law.
They’re confused about how to spin this as a negative.
1. Trump’s signature issue: ‘We will build a great wall along the southern border. And Mexico will pay for the wall.’
2. A pledge to begin deporting more border-crossers instead of engaging them in long, drawn-out legal proceedings: ‘We’re going to end catch-and-release.’
3. ‘Zero tolerance for criminal aliens,’ and a promise to deport ‘illegal immigrants who are arrested for any crime whatsoever.’
4. Trump would ‘block funding for sanctuary cities’ that refuse to turn over criminal aliens to the federal government for deportation.
5. ‘Cancel unconstitutional executive orders’ – a code for President Obama’s ‘deferred action’ orders that protect an estimated 5 million illegal immigrants and their family members from deportation.
6. Trump would ‘suspend the issuance of visas’ to people from countries ‘where adequate screening cannot occur,’ including ‘places like Syria and Libya.’
7. Unspecified action against the 23 countries that refuse to accept their own citizens after the U.S. deports them.
8. A ‘biometric entry-exit visa tracking system’ like one that Congress has demanded, a system that would help authorities identify and remove the half-million visa holders who stay longer than allowed each year.
9. A strict use of the ‘e-verify’ employment system in order to ‘turn off the jobs and benefits magnet’ that lures foreigners into the U.S.
10. The formation of an ‘immigration commission’ that would change the criteria for entering the U.S., selecting immigrants ‘based on their likelihood of success in U.S. society, and their ability to be financially self-sufficient.’
Name the 23 countries.
I like that he is going to have benefits turned off to them, no more government hand outs to illegals

Trump last night outlined his immigration policy in a speech. Ann coulter said that was the greatest speech she ever heard and I agree. why don't you all read it or see it? All Americans have to unite to defeat Hillary the communist = Chavez

He totally played them. Made them perk up and give close coverage because they thought he was going to flip-flop, and then once he had the platform, used it to hammer home what he’s been saying all along, only now with several million more listeners.

I hope when Trump attempts to clarify an issue from now on, we won’t all freak out and claim he is compromising.

Hillary is still mailing it in. I suspect someone on her staff has convinced her that she has it so much in the bag that she doesn't even have to go through the motions. That has been a fatal mistake many times before.
