By the conservative establishment, I mean the modern conservative movement, founded in the 1950s by William Buckley and others. Thus movement was partially co-opted by former Democrats who moved rightward as the post McGovern party moved leftward. This group are the core of the neo-conservative group that came to prominence in the 1980s pushing aside the traditionalist conservatives.

This movement became way too comfortable with the RINOs in the GOP, often, like Paul Ryan, passing seamlessly between the two groups. Trump has been the equivalent of a fire, burning away dead and dying brush and cleansing deadwood.

I agree with your statement. Initially, and today to some degree just dislike Trump or his mannerisms. Perhaps these mannerisms will be the very thing that will bury the Clinton campaign...I dunno.

What I do know, Trump won me over with his nationalist tone. If he does 50% of what he’z promised...I will consider his time in office a success for the average Joe-sixpack.

Beside a Trump presidency, I don't see much hope for the longevity and health of the U.S.

Sowell has shown some signs of coming around. The other two, not so much.

It’s an honor to be acquainted with an officially educated historian — especially a patriotic one!

But I’ve been disillusioned about historians in general after reading their books.

Most progressive historians had skuttled military history. So no worries.

Oh wait — they are excellent at Civil War trivia.

They can even take an exciting biography and make it dull as dust — avoiding all things military in biographies.

I saw one book, ‘The Other side of Wellington’ [paraphrasing]. The only biography of Wellington in the entire library, and it was about everything in his life that was NOT involved in warfare.

I’ve also noticed that the old worn out books written prior to WWII tend to be better history books than the glossy, newer ‘upgrades’.

There are exceptions though. I found a great book in the Dollar Tree this year — too bad it didn’t sell very well.

It was ‘The Generals’ by Thomas E Ricks.

It covers generals from WWII up through to the Petreus Surge.

It was very in-depth about actual military decisions.

Prime focus — how Marshall had instilled a method of relieving failing officers and giving other officers a chance. And how that method vanished and led to stagnation.

Ricks has a great way of cutting to the chase. He was the first historian to explain the successful strategy of fighting insurgents/guerrillas applied by Petreus, and how that same method was skuttled during Vietnam.

So Lee and Hooker fought against their own side?

The reason every election is the most important in our lifetime is that ever since the democrats took all of congress and the White House, they first hamstrung us with Obama-Care [which destroyed British conservatives] and then they keep attempting death blows [an overrun border combined with voter fraud].

The US Patriot is like Atlas holding up the world while rocks are thrown at him.

It’s a good thing Nelson didn’t have rogue captains shooting at their fellow Brits. That’s what Trump has.

And speaking of sea commanders, John Paul Jones DID successfully lead a divided crew. He never had much in the way of a dutiful crew. They were mutinous scalawags for the most part.

I read one of those special gems — a book written by an honest military historian who had access to google.

John Paul Jones lost many opportunities due to mutinous opposition. In fact, he even had a problem at the dockyard. The man in charge of building his vessel was cantankerous and corrupt.

We will never know John Paul Jones’ full potential.

History of religions — did you learn much about the Jewish heretics? I believe they were the reason why so many Jews later turned to marxism [including Soros’ wacko father].

I’m beginning to think that the Jewish traditionalist leaders felt insecure in Christian nations during Enlightenment and the Printing Press. So they overreacted to any threats to their doctrine. I guess you might call them ‘orthodoxy-wannabes’. I tried calling them an orthodoxy because they weilded secular power and even whipped up mobs and murderers.

Speaking of Jefferson, when Greene headed down to take charge in the South, he stopped by and noticed how Governor Jefferson neglected the Virignia Militia. Greene gave the governor a chewing-out. I recall him of accusing Jefferson of rendering his men ‘naked’. An exaggeration of course. But the uniforms were ratty patchwork.

Adams and Jefferson also squabbled, but at least they were united against the redcoats. The democrats make King George look like a saint!

One of my favorite professors put it succinctly:

History is nothing more than cause(s) and effect(s).

If you teach someone to remember dates, you are teaching them sand and saltines.

I really need to document things when I read them. There was something about Marx recently, past 6 months, he, per typical of elitists, was using trying to use socialism to suppress and "opiate" the masses in the same fashion he believed religion did.

The world religions were more surveys, covering from animism to Zooriastrianism. I did additional study into those I found most interesting.
