Being on parole in Hawaii is not exactly the best model to predict such outcomes on a mainland scale.

I'd argue that being on parole in a paradise you are prohibited from leaving ain't so bad? Try being on parole in Baltimore or Newark?

Many criminals are criminals because they have poor impulse control, and an inability to think long-term. They need immediate feedback on consequences for bad behavior.

Imagine that. Immediate consequences to actions work.

Who would have thought?

“the Shortcomings of Probation and Parole”

Is that they exist AT ALL!

No probation, no parole (especially parole)

Do the crime, do the time.

No early out for good behavior, DEMAND good behavior all the time.

Stop coddelling these criminals.

and YES, BUILD MORE JAILS & PRISONS. Build individual cells with showers so that inmates never need to leave their cells. In hospitals patients don’t all go to the chow hall together. They don’t go to communal showers.

They stay in their rooms.

On the few occasions that inmates do leave their cells, medical or visitations, they are to be handcuffed and shackled (before leaving their cells).

This may require more support staff, but fewer guards. EVERYONE would be safer. And I mean EVERYONE. The guards, the public, the staff, the inmates.

Prison has become just being sent to “Redemption Island”. You can still get back in the game.

While in prison today you get an “associates” degree in crime. You learn about future potential “jobs”. Make new “friends”. Turn your job into a “career”.

Do not allow prisoners to associate with other prisoners.
(Do not allow criminals to associate with other criminals).

Only BAD things can come from it.

NO MORE PAROLE BOARDS. NO MORE PAROLE.
