A Convention of States. Now.
Article V Blog ^ | August 5th 2016 | Rodney Dodsworth

The American republic is on its knees.

No methodical and orderly process like that in Article V can keep up with the pace of unconstitutional executive branch and scotus derived amendments to the Constitution. What is to be done? Apply for a Convention of States for one purpose? Events are moving far too fast to be limited by artificial bounds imposed on Article V that serve to delay a state convention. While Washington disregards the supreme law of the land, we are expected to follow it to the letter. How many decades must go by before the sovereign people respond to the never ending outrages?

I take my inspiration in part from Algernon Sidney: “When men are assembled by a human power, that power that does assemble them may also limit the manner of the execution of that power. But of assemblies that take their authority from the Law of Nature, no inferior power can alter, limit or diminish them.” No earthly power can deny the Sovereign People their right and DUTY to secure the blessings of liberty.

When congress, the president, or scotus act, they do so by powers delegated to them by their principals, We The Sovereign People. They are our agents. We are the principals, their masters.

When delegates of the Sovereign People meet in convention, they take their authority from, and are only limited by, the Law of Nature. In convention, they operate above government and the Constitution itself. As agents, the congress, president, scotus cannot limit the actions of their principals, We the Sovereign People meeting in convention.

Given this principal/agent relationship, Article V cannot be construed to limit the God-given Natural Right of society to amend its governing forms. Like the Second Amendment, Article V grants nothing. If Article V didn’t exist, we would still have a societal right independent of the government we created to meet in convention. Article V merely recognizes the inherent right of all societies to set the rules of their governing system. It sets out one orderly procedure to assemble delegates of the Sovereign People. It does not preclude a convention without the blessing of a corrupted congress. A state convention to propose amendments is not a gift from congress, but the expression of the Sovereign People to reestablish free government.

Time is short.

Agree 100%. Now that we know how badly out of control and infiltrated Republican leadership is, we can be pretty confident that given the opportunity they'll unravel the Constitution in favor of globalism, and cheat to get the changes they need to dismantle our freedoms.

The nation, and perhaps except for Eastern Europe all of Western Civilization is goin' down. The best we can do is for some states to survive, with the freedoms from federal tyranny the Constitution was supposed to provide.

I strongly disagree.

Trump is on the right track. He is the first person, in more than one entire generation, who is.

But he is very strong.

I think Trump is correct about everything, and he’s our only chance at survival. But I also think that globalists have brought us so far down the path to destruction that the survival of the US will be in more Constitutional, state-oriented governance. Our only survival is Trump turning things around and also choosing SC Judges who let the end of government over-reach and destruction of the US happen.

Why assume that the states, which will convene for the purpose of saving the republic, commission delegates with powers to destroy what little remains of our republic?

Never.

We can’t trust enough states. We certainly can trust neither the Dhimmicrats nor the GOPe. We will become like Europe after a states convention.

One amendment at a time. Start by repealing the 17th

We are trusted in the polling place every two years to elect people who are certain to operate outside the limits of our Constitution, yet we are to be denied the establishment of the only institution which may actually reverse the horrid corruption of our once free republic?

Events are moving too quickly.

Just this week alone, the Bamster promised to import 10,000 more muzzies by the end of September. We also learned he laundered dollars and illegally paid ransom for a few American hostages in Iran.

Congress couldn't care less. This isn't republican government. This is tyranny.

Agree wholeheartedly with repeal of the source of our demise, the 17A.

Because the Trump campaign has shown us how beyond hope infiltrated the political process is, at all levels. Look at the delegate slates supposedly supporting Trump. They thought they'd be able to pull off a coup and steal the nomination! Look at all the masks that have come off....sold out globalists who we thought were Constitutional Conservatives

Absolutely NOT....we should not have conventions to change anything until we've gotten rid of the infiltrators. In fact, when that happens, we can go back to the Constitution as our guiding principle, and changes in it won't be necessary.

Because when the snot nosed brats have taken over the classroom it is a waste of time for the teacher to write new rules on the blackboard.

If we are at the point when art V means the end of everything then there is nothing to loose. It is already gone.

Yes to Article V. Do it now!

There will be a secession one day. In my lifetime perhaps. The American people will not succumb to globalism without just leaving the USA state by state. If that leads to war let it be on the Feds hands.

I don’t think you follow the logic. Don’t do ANYTHING now, because our ranks are so thoroughly infiltrated. The infiltrators are taking off their masks because of Trump’s nomination, but they’re not out yet. Anything that happens now runs the risk of being hijacked by them.

Look nobody is following the Constitution now. But a structural change like repealing the 17th and 16th amendments would be hard to ignore. It is either Art V or secession, take your pick because the status quo is NOT an option. I don;t know how old you are but you will not be able to run out the clock.
