1) The Pledge of Allegiance is NOT a founding document of this country.
2) The Pledge of Allegiance is objectionable because of the word “indivisible.” This directly contradicts the Declaration of Independence, which IS a founding document.
The Declaration of Independence asserts as one of our inalienable rights the right to alter or abolish our government, including doing so by seceding from a larger political entity.
A man from a past and more clearly thinking time, when the values of God, home, and country were much more imprinted upon the national consciousness. Millions today residing in that territory once known as “the United States of America” have no grasp or even concept of what Red Skelton is talking about.
I am old enough to remember when Red Skelton first shown this clip in 1969. Thankfully, we have ways of reliving that show. Red Skelton was a giant of a man who could always make people laugh. I was blessed enough to have met him in a hospital recovering from my injuries from Viet Nam and will always remember him as a great man. This is a man who not only loved to make you laugh but also loved this Country. God bless Red Skelton. You will always be remembered, my friend!
Much honor to you and those who served with you.
Thanks for your service and your story. Both of you deserve a lot of respect.
Red Skelton was one of the funniest entertainers of my lifetime, and also one of the most tragic. I remember very well when his young son died as we were both about the same age. How Red was able to keep smiling I can’t imagine.
Red was a conservative and a patriot. That worked against him as Hollywood turned more and more left wing. If he were alive today I doubt he could even work at his craft. It really is sad to seen how far we have fallen.
As Red would have said, “God bless.”
Red Skelton was a Freemason, well-known for his contributions to Shriners Hospital, which has survived him.
Thank you for sharing these INDEPENDENCE DAY gems with US on this special, special day. With each passing INDEPENDENCE DAY it stirs questions if this one will be the last. The day, a day of celebration, also brings tears. So many men fought and died for this great nation. To see these brave men and what they accomplished — we AMERICANS salute you and offer hearty and heartfelt “THANKS!”
That was outstanding.
I grew up watching Red Skelton; what a good guy he was!
BTTT
Just listened (again).
