Modern firearms which do not require gunsmithing to be reliable have coil spring extractors and feed ramps integral to the barrel.
John browning corrected these flaws on the P35 Hi-Power which is the best sidearm ever invented. To not know these facts show sheer ignorance and what a fool you are for criticizing me.

On the plus side, you don’t really need hollowpoints in a.45 caliber weapon.Sure, they’re nice but hardball .45 is enough.

The P35 with the magazine disconnect??? LOL!

Kimber thought just like you, take a design that isn’t broken, and fix it till it is.

Hint: They abandoned the wimpy coil spring extractor and went back to what works.

Colt doesn’t agree either, as the new M45A1 uses the traditional, beefy extractor.

“The 1911 is an obsolete relic that must have the original design butchered to feed hollowpoints.”

Uh huh. Better tell that to the dozen and a half manufacturers still using the 1911 design for the weapons they continue to make. By the way, if you have any of those obsolete relics you’d like to unload I’ll be happy to take them off your hands. And I won’t charge you a penny!

Modern 1911s are the cat’s meow. The browning hi power is ok, but your points aren’t valid unless we are both on the range.

Manufacturers make WWI technology like 1911 and V-twin motorcycles for the nostalgia market. There is a huge number of people willing to overpay for obsolete technology, so manufacturers would be foolish not to supply to that market.

That does not mean that the 1911 and V-twin bikes are as good as modern designs.

A throated 1911 chamber has case support removed, making it weaker than a modern design with the feed ramp integral to the barrel. The leaf spring extractor incurs much more stress per unit of deflection than a coil spring and will not last near as long without having it adjusted.
