The Russians lost between 20-40 million of which about 6-8 million were POWS worked to death by the nazis in camps. Add to that all the Poles and Serbians killed and WW2 looks more like a war to exterminate the slavic race rather than the Jewish race. Hilter openly planed to murder the population of entire cities like Moscow.
Hitler planned for the entire Polish race to be exterminated by the 70s.
Ahh, so maybe that is the miscommunication. It seems you are counting all fatalities. Since the Jews had no armed country to fight back, it is an unfair comparison. American, British, and other Ally POWs were treated poorly as well. I’ve only been counting those put to death in extermination camps (which there were other countries like Romania that had ex-camps for Jews and Communists)
You also need to consider context. China and Russia were invaded, the US was not (officially). This means more Russian lives were at stake than US lives. Looking at the greater USSR, there were 194 million people. Over 10 million died in combat, around 10 million died from war crimes, another 6 million from disease, famine, etc. This was 14% of the population. The Jews on the other hand had 7.3 million people in Germany, and with an estimate of 5.7 exterminated means a 78% death toll.
The Nazis did consider Slavic people as ‘sub humans’. However, they were not able to implement their executions with as much effect against the Slavs as they did the Jews. This is probably why the Jews get more attention.... as they almost got wiped out. If there is one thing for certain, the Nazis were powered by one emotion - hatred. The very same emotion that powers many of our progressive/democrat Americans today.....
