Libertarian candidate for President Gary Johnson tells a caller on C-SPAN that he agrees with socialist Bernie Sanders 73% of the time. This is the guy that a bunch of NeverTrumpers have decided to support. Most people might think it odd that a self-described libertarian would have so much in common with a socialist. After all, Bernie Sanders has premised his entire political career on expanding the size and scope of government to the point that it smothers individuals, families, and private associations like churches. Religion is the opiate of the masses, after all. Sanders even took his honeymoon in communist-era Moscow. So, what gives?

Gary Johnson is the media/entertainment/academia propaganda complex flavor of the month. Normally, the Libertarian candidate is a footnote, but they are desperate to try to conjure up a third party to bleed off Trump’s support and get Hillary into the White House.

That being said, this is a little like saying that Baptists agree with 73% of Catholic doctrine—and it’s probably a higher %age—but that doesn’t mean Baptists should be associated with Catholic issues, or vice versa.
