$15/hour at 11 hours a day (11am to 10pm) on the fry station is $165 per day. At 365 days, that is $60,225 in wages alone (not counting other expenses) just to have someone on fries at every McDonalds.
There are around 1,100 McDonalds in California, so if they instituted a $15 minimum wage, manning the fry station for all of their lunch and dinner service would run around $66,247,500 in wages.
1,100 robotic arms would be $38,500,000. Even if you had to spend money to maintain them and replace the occasional piece of equipment, it is still a huge savings to go the robotic route.
And that is just in the first year...

I still can’t figure out why right wing media outlets are following suit.
Marxists raus!!!!!
Ditto for “manufacturing jobs” the populists want “back”. The only thing coming back is the automation bots. Rest of the “workers” that are promised jobs will be on welfare.

That was the idea of a salary - one was basically guaranteed a check 52 weeks out of the year with no fluctuation - in the construction business, that was a plus.
Then it went to Health care, vacation, sick leave, now pregnancy leave for the Males.
I am basically anti-union BUT I do realize that everytime the Union got something, it would trickle down to us private sector people and the PS owners would have to pay close to Union scale in order to keep some decent help.
