Trump, Ryan and the Islam Problem
PJ Media ^ | 5-15-2016 | Roger L Simon

One of the main areas of contention between Donald Trump and Paul Ryan is the question of Muslim immigration. In early December, when Trump first made his proposal (now a "suggestion") to stop all such immigration until we "understood what was going on," one of the first to react in high dudgeon was Ryan, who declared: "This is not conservatism."

(snip)

But let's look more closely at what the speaker said during that response:

When we voted to pause the refugee program a few weeks ago, I made very clear at the time: there would not be a religious test. There would be a security test. And that is because freedom of religion is a fundamental Constitutional principle. It’s a founding principle of this country.

Aside from the obvious -- if people are fighting and killing you in the name of a religion, how do you ignore the "religious test" -- what about that "security test"? Is it really happening or are people slipping into the country by various means, including an open border, with no test whatsoever? What about reports of an ISIS camp eight miles from El Paso?

And, perhaps more importantly, did that "pause" Ryan voted for actually take place in any meaningful way? According to the New York Post a "surge operation" bringing Syrian refugees to America was already in operation this past April. By "surge operation," Gina Kassem -- regional refugee coordinator in Amman -- told reporters, it was meant the resettlement process that normally took 18 to 24 months would be sped up to 3 months. (Some pause!) And the figure of 10,000 refugees that has often been proffered by the administration was a minimum, not a maximum.

Ryan, a posturing peacock, just "wanted to disassociate himself as quickly as possible from the ugly and seemingly racist Trump". Even after Trump seemingly cinched the nomination.

Read it all.

To be a Leftist, one MUST accept lies over truth for the sake of getting along.

Islam is only a problem because the left is using it as a tool. Focusing on Islam without realizing the real threat is left is just falling into their trap.

Ryan is irrelevant.

He was made Speaker because he was the least objectionable person around. As a “leader”, he’s meaningless. Just a water boy always tagging along.

So who cares what he thinks. In a few months, it will be an afterthought.

“And that is because freedom of religion is a fundamental Constitutional principle. “

This is the Speaker of the house. The ignorant fool has no idea that the Constitution does not require equality in immigration. In immigration you can exclude any group, nation or race. There is no constitutional right to immigrate.

He breaks oddly on a lot of issues. But Trump doesn’t need him to pass a law to stop moslim imports. That’s well established in the executive zone that he has the authority to stop it.

Truth. People on television act as though Paul Ryan is the Second Coming.

He was the hold-your-nose option for Speaker, the one who had pissed off the fewest people. Of course, he's making up lost ground on that front.

Ryan seems to be reluctant to be the water boy for president Trump, though. So if he remains Speaker, how much muscles would he apply to implement Trump's vision/policies?

Thank you for posting this article. Ryan made some nonsensical statements at the time, including repeating the leftist mantra “this is not who we are” that was often said by Barack Hussein Obama.

What’s worse is the fact that he’s lying about their truly being “Freedom of Religion” in people’s private lives and businesses.

People can be fined and/or jailed, and businesses can be closed all be cause we are NOT free to live our faith in our private lives.

Don’t be surprised if several happen the same day.

I’m surprised it hasn’t happened yet.

If we let in fully vetted Muslims, history shows most Muslims will not integrate into a Kafir society like ours.

Muslims will group up into ghettos to preserve their religious heritage .
These Muslim Ghettos will provide cover for Jihadist to hide and operate from to bring down our Kafir Nation. - Tom

Not true.

The Left is a threat...and islam is a completely separate threat.

Islam and the Left are using each other because they have similar goals...the destruction of Christianity and Israel.

Islam is different because it has a stated goal of overthrowing out Constitution. It should be the lone exception to religious freedom because of that . . . and no, we shouldn’t let more of them in, refugee or not.

OK Ryan, why are you Hellbent on introducing nit only a different racial group than we normally have ever, but more importantly a completely foreign social, religious and political group? One that is antithetical to the culture we presently have. IOW: Who needs them? They should be the last people on Earth that we voluntarily allow into our country.

No one had=s the right to immigrate to America ,it is a privilage and should be reserved to only those that benefit our country. Few Muslims qualify under those terms.

Maybe you should read your own post again. Your solution to Islam is to drop our beliefs and adopt theirs. That seems like a giant step backwards. People who like their system better than our are free to move over there.
