Rest assured... You will still be required to be sober.
There would (will) be a law that a person must remain sober in the event that manual take over of the car may be required in the (unlikely) event of auto-malfunction.

And yes, it will be all about more population control. Imagine the crossover period.. You will have a bunch of auto-cars clogging up rush hour making it horrendously worse because... well.. the cars will be required to strictly obey the speed limit, and will needlessly (and early) apply brakes when simple “foot off accelerator” would suffice.

I am NOT wanting these things at all.
