Maybe we’re just tired of losing.

That still doesn't answer my question: what makes Trump different from Dole, McCain, Romney, Giuliani, and all the other liberal Republicans?

Why are they "liberal" while he is "right wing?"

I just don't understand everyone's inconsistency this year.

Yes you are right and a little wrong.

Everything changed when the Republicans just flat out did not do as they promised in 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014. Last year's bill that passed in December was the icing on the cake. I think sometimes the Republican Party was quite happy playing the "purity test" just so it could weed out good people. And the people, like me, played along. I was the "holier than thou type", the "I want the purest conservative" type and what did that get me? A bunch of so called "pure conservative" republicans who once they got into office sided with Obama and the establishment.

I'm done with that.

As far as trump being more liberal or Guiliani being more liberal than some might prefer.

Doesn’t really seem to matter much any more, because all those people who told us they were conservatives lied straight to our face and did not one conservative thing, but instead colluded and conspired with our enemies.

Damn straight! People call out Trump for this that and the other, meanwhile we have a congress full of liars that get a pass.

We taint got nuttin’ to lose. Anything is better than the train wreck of the last seven years. I kind of hope Trump turns the convention upside down.

I would say it’s the populist streak and tapping into people’s anger with government in general.

The timing of it is just right now.

I said two years ago that a right leaning populist candidate would walk away with this thing. So far it’s proving to be true.

I sensed something larger brewing with people. No more status quo.

Plus you have Sanders on the other side giving a perspective on the left as compared to the right. A so-called moderate to con Republican with a populist message that connects doesn’t look too bad these days where it would have been rejected out of hand in years past.

He is connecting with the middle class that has been absolutely hammered these last number of years and is reaching critical mass. JMHO

The label “conservative” no longer has any meaning to me.

It is a word that has been corrupted and hollowed out by the GOP.

It’s nothing more than a lie to make me think that I am voting for something other than what I am voting for.

What makes Trump different from them all is what he says he is going to do, and why he wants to do it.

Yes, I am taking a risk in believing him. But if he then does what he said he would do, not only will I believe him, I will trust him.

I no longer believe or trust anyone in the GOP.

They have blown it, and they are fired.

You’re 100% correct.

Trump is not conservative.

But Trump is also not liberal.

He’s anti-establishment. And THAT is what is now needed.

We’ve played the two-party game/liberal-v-conservative for a long time, and every time - we’ve lost. The country has lost. It’s set up by the parties, the higher-up unelected bureaucrats, and big business/labor to rig the game against the people. It’s us vs. them. Not conservative vs. liberal.

Trump represents the only REAL chance of tearing that down. Of burning the current system down to the ground, and the getting it moving in the right direction again.

IMHO, Cruz wouldn’t have done 1/10th of what folks here think he would have done. He knows the game, his wife IS the game (Goldman Sachs). He’d say the right things, make a few moves here and there - and the status quo would continue.

Trump doesn’t have those encumbrances. If he does 1/10th of what he’s said, it WILL break the back of DC and the cycle we’ve been fighting for decades (that same cycle and circle that hampered much of Reagan’s platform).

So yes, this election IS different. It’s not about conservative or liberal. It’s about Establishment vs. outsider. And Trump (and on the left, Sanders) is the outsider. You want real change? Change the system, don’t change the figurehead.

It goes back to before 2014, actually. During OIF (Operation Iraqi Freedom) and the War on Terror spending went way up, even after promises by republicans to be fiscally responsible, they were given a lot of cover because of the war... but there were other things that, in hindsight, make perfect sense because of their true allegiance to the globalists; still they managed to mostly at least look the part of a party that really represented us.

In 2008 we had the McCain/Obama election and, also in hindsight, it seems that they were put in place to weaken the Natural Born Citizen requirement. (Ted Cruz’s presidential run, born in Canada to a maximum of one US citizen parent is the fruition of that.) And then ObamaCare was foisted on us, this is an important event because the utter lack of real opposition on it was the start of really unmasking the Republican party.

They said “aw shucks, there’s nothing we can do about ObamaCare: we don’t have the congress.” — So we elected Republicans into congress, based on their “we’ll repeal/defund ObamaCare”, but nothing ever came of this. (Also they went many years w/o passing an actual budget, which is why we have those disgusting ‘Omnibus’ bills.) — Right before the 2014 elections the GOP was bragging about how they were going to push through amnesty, I remember reading the posts about that here. Anyway, what happened was that there was an upset when one of their sure-deal votes lost his election and THAT made them nervous/uncertain enough to nix that plan.

(Notice how the Congress has rolled over for EVERYTHING that Obama wants to do? How they did nothing to the NSA for clearly violating the 4th Amendment? How they [both sides] sided with the IRS’s political targeting? Notice how they put on little shows to simply wave what Obama wants through? [The Corker amendment and Iran deal comes to mind.])

So, after all the constant betrayal, in 2015 people started to really wake up and notice that the Republican party is also the enemy. (The UniParty meme.) They started to rally around Trump because he is obviously different than everyone the GOP was pushing on us and would be a good “FU” to the party — as one blogger said, Trump isn’t our candidate, he’s our murder weapon... and the GOP is the victim.

But then, as people actually listened to Trump, there was one big difference that really resonated with the voters: it’s obvious that he loves America and Americans. — Then he said things that we’ve wanted for years, like actual border security (the wall), and actual fiscal responsibility (”no more bad deals”).

IOW Trump is something we haven’t had in a long while, long enough that a significant portion of voters cannot remember having one, and that is: a nationalist. This goes right back to the point above: he loves America and he loves Americans. His loyalty is to America, and not this “New World Order” globalist pile... and THAT is the reason people are voting for him.

I gave up the republicans when they won a MASSIVE victory in 2010 yet supported Obama’s agenda even more than the democrat super majority. Trump is a populist cast from the same mold as Obama. He has a cult like following that, while gratifying, will not be good for the nation. We don’t need another president who will ‘make’ companies follow his orders. We need a president that will follow the constitution. Trump has made no such indications he plans to be a strict constitutionalist.

Having emptied the word “conservative” of all meaning, they now demand that we respond to it like Pavlov’s dogs.

Any candidate who will stop the Muslim/Mexican invasion is “conservative” enough for me.
