Party of Jim Crow vs. that of Abraham Lincoln

Some have complained about my use of certain phrases in reference to the two major American political Parties. I therefore offer the following explanations for future reference:

I call the Democrat Party the Party of Jim Crow because to this day, it stands for division on racial and class lines. it is elitist and holds that the majority cannot be trusted to run their own lives and need the "benevolent" management of those who are smarter, know more -- and are of better character. That is the essence of Progressivism, which itself is a socio-ideological carry-over from the Plantation owners' mentality in the Antebellum South.

Most people who are doing evil -- and the Democrat Party is almost pure evil -- think they are doing good.

Over 150 years ago, the slave-holders believed that their black chattel, if left to their own devices, would be suffering the short-brutish lives of savages and were therefore better off under the control of smart, virtuous people -- having their physical capabilities being utilized for useful work. Today's "progressives" believe that those who disagree with them are, by definition, stupid, ill-informed, and/or evil. They believe that the majority of the population lacks the proper education, experience and character to justly manage their own lives. Their property, earnings and social choices should be therefore be managed and allocated collectively by Philosopher Kings who know better and care.

I refer to the Republican Party as that of Abraham Lincoln for different reasons: To remind us that it was founded upon the principles of freedom, individual empowerment and equality under the law. The current GOP leadership seems to have forgotten that, preferring instead to emulate an European conservative party in which its main platform is that it could more efficiently manage a social welfare state.

That sort of policy foundation is not compelling to the GOP voting base. Hence, if it persists in this RINO folly, it will continue to lose to the fascist plutocrats who run the Democrat Party with candidates like Mitt Romney and John McCain.

TOPICS: Government; Politics; Society
KEYWORDS: conservatism; democrat; progressivism; republican
The Republican Party has changed for the worse, while the Democrat Party remains at least as bad as it was, if not worse.

What seems inconsistent is that sometimes my fellow conservatives seem to want to ‘claim’ Lincoln and sometimes they want to ‘claim’ the Confederacy. It seems as though one would identify with one or the other.
