What's your preference when it comes to handguns, would you use a polymer or metal frame? Here's a short excerpt on the sentiment on 1911Forum:
45ACP_1911
I can't get used to the feel of Polymer guns. I appreciate the double stack design and light weight but they just don't feel good in my hands. I've got a Glock 10mm but I just don't shoot it. A 1911 in contrast feels wonderful in my hands and the trigger pull can be made outstanding. What the heck I can change a mag in split second anyhow.

It's taken me several years to "get used to" my M&Ps. However, after a decade of nothing but 1911s (training, carrying, practicing, tinkering, etc.), I figure that's about right. I love my 1911s, and they are the guns I will never sell, but there is definitely a purpose to and place for some polymer.

I prefer things that work and I'm pretty utilitarian these days. Like both steel and poly and can't see a reason not to. See the video on polymer vs metal here.
Popcorn time!
I used to be a SIG fan (P226, P228 and a P229). Still am, sorta. My P226 has seen 50K rnds and three barrels.
Switched to Glock 15 years ago and now the SIGs don’t see much action. Sold my carry P229 to buy a Glock 19 that is lighter and slimmer.
One is more apt to carry if the piece is comfortable (or less uncomfortable) to carry. Hence I prefer polymer.
Get what you can hit with, thats reliable and easy to doff and don for carry every day , during all your activities so that when the time comes..... you will. Consider functionality, practicality, comfort over what you “like”.....
My opinion / experience carrying a handgun daily since 1972....
I love my Ruger LC9. No problems with the polymer frame.
Nothing at all wrong with a Polymer handgun. My Glock will outlast my grandchildren.
For carry, Polymer or exotic alloys (Scandium and Titanium, like my S&W 340PD). Everyday carry gun is a Glock 26 or 42. Glock 30 is too damn heavy.
At the range, I love me some 1911 Governement Model, but also shot my Glock 17 and 21).
Too many sharp edges for where you hide it.....
The .45 caliber 1911 was a mediocre but acceptable design before World War II but now that the GLOCK has come along, it is the weakest of all possible choices. The .45 caliber 1911 should have been exclusively produced by Bryco or Jennings arms. It’s just that bad.
Nah. I’m so used to being raped by the Feds I got callouses back there now.
What junk! GET A GLOCK!
I officially unfriend thee!
LOL!
Had one. Had. No thanks!
Well then its a vacancy issue ? No room at the inn ?? Feds using colt buntlines now ??
To own a Glock is to feel the presence of God.
I’m just not sure how to answer that without sounding queer.
