I fully expect Trump to take Indiana comfortably, Cruz is done, only the most die hard folks who have an emotional investment in him are likely to continue to vote for him going forward.

I know they are desperate to pull a win out in IN, because they need to keep that “contested convention” nonsense alive, but the reality is, Trump had this thing won on Super Tuesday, all this drama about a contested convention is manufactured political theater.

The GOPe handing Cruz a win in WI in hopes of changing the momentum of the race, wasn’t going to and didn’t, that was their last ditch effort to change the momentum, and it didn’t do anything. That was the last ditch effort there was to affect the outcome of this race.

Indiana even if Cruz would pull off a win there and take 100% of the delegates (which won’t happen) Trump is still easily on path to the required delegate count.

This thing is over, and anyone who isn’t bad at simple mathematics knows it. Cruz’s numbers will continue to collapse (as if coming in last place 5 out of the last 6 states wasn’t collapsed enough) if he stays in this thing, and the longer he stays in the more long term damage he does to himself. He’s young with plenty of time to try again to fulfill his greater ambitions, but at this point the longer he keeps beating this dead horse, the more long term damage he does to himself.... Honestly I think he’s on the verge of ensuring he may not even get re-elected to the Senate in 18... Even Texas has a limit to the embarrassment it will put up with.

Cruz just isn’t ready for prime time, and the longer he keeps up this nonsense the more it looks like he may never be.

For good or ill, Trump is the nominee this election cycle, and he’ll also be the next President... and for the first time since 1988, (with the sole exception of the re-election of a wartime President) the GOP will win the popular vote for President, and do so by a large margin and be on a path to actually grow the party for the future, instead of trying to manage a steady decline.

I hate to break this to you, but from a historical context this election is tame as hell.

Yes, the tweet from Trump regarding Cruz’s wife was stupid, and there was no need to do it, and frankly I am sure if Trump had a do over he would not have done it.

However, calling your opponent a Liar? My goodness that’s nothing historically speaking when it comes to campaign acrimony. And even the tween about Cruz’s wife was mild as hell when put in historical context. Especially given the context, which was a response to an attack directed at Trump’s wife.

As to uncivilized, while I would agree as a society we are falling on that topic, when it comes to politics the level of discourse in this campaign is trite when put in historical perspective.

You really need to up your knowledge of our political history if you think this electoral season is uncivilized. For crying out loud we had one politician nearly beat another to death in the floor of the Senate!

A lot of people have, and its generally because of Ted’s actions, not Trump’s.

Yes, because of Ted’s actions.

He burned a lot of goodwill in this campaign. He could have ended up with a huge amount of goodwill going forward into 2020 (if the Dems win), or 2024 (if Trump wins).

But now the goodwill is gone. Burnt to ashes. And it’s all his doing.

This latest stunt with that snarling job-killing corporation-murdering freak Carly is the final demonstration of just how truly stupid he truly is.

Not sure I agree with the premise that McConnell and Cruz are enemies... more and more I believe that everything that Cruz did in DC was for show. To get people “hooked.” And with the news that the “anti-Trump” PAC is a McConnell PAC and that the Cruz organization tells people to donate to this PAC to get around campaign finance limits, I am convinced McConnell and Cruz are aligned.

What?! This can’t be true! Why, I got at least five emails just this morning assuring me that Cruz is surging, neck-and-neck with Trump, in the latest “stunning” polls! Or were those shock polls? It’s kind of hard to keep them all straight....

Yes, I do believe that Cruz could wipe the floor with Hillary if he were the nominee. He is ten times smarter than she is and can articulate to the public just what despicable and illegal actions Hillary has done.

The notion that the GOP-e will “steal” the nomination from Trump is getting old. If Trump does not have 1,237 delegates going into the convention, he will probably not win the first vote. The rules are simple and there is nothing illegal or unscrupulous about them. Trump needs to stop whining about having Colorado stolen from him when that was nothing of the sort. Cruz knew how the procedures worked and prevailed. Trump did not. End of story. The democrats are masters of knowing procedure and how to win strategically though they also employ voter fraud which is what pushes them over the finish line.

Calling other candidates names and shouting out things like “liar”, “the devil”, etc. is juvenile and classless regardless of what party affiliation a candidate is.

During the time of Lincoln, the debates between him and Douglass were articulate and hard-hitting. Profanity, pejoratives, screaming, and hysteria are not the way I want a leader to act.

Do you think that Cruz can reach HALF the delegates needed to get to the nomination?
Or more appropriately, half of the delegates that Trump gets?

If he gets so lucky.. Where will he get an increase of at least 100% of delegates in Cleveland?

And do you think he can actually be viable in a general election if he colludes his way to this type of victory?

That was a super PAC, and when a woman poses nude or semi-nude, she should expect that those pictures will become public at some point. Not exactly first lady material, but then neither is Michelle Obama. We stopped seeing classy first ladies with Hillary.

It is still possible that Trump can enter the convention without the needed number of delegates. Kasich, Carson and Rubio are still technically in the race which means their delegates can be given to another candidate.

And I do not like the media telling me who the presumptive nominee will be for either party. There is a primary process and a convention. Until then, there are no nominees yet.

Cruz is a tragic case. He has real ability as a spokesmen for Constitutional values. He has, however, clearly betrayed the better angels of his nature, and let ambition overrule even his common sense.

In his deliberate effort to smear Donald Trump, he has stooped to things which while ultimately also just plain stupid, violate the moral precepts he has long claimed. Cherry picking isolated incidents and data from years past, wholly out of context--and then grossly misinterpreting them--he has become a living example of what it means to "bear false witness." In the process he has even lost the sincere intonations with which he earlier addressed audiences. He sounds now like a recording of a snake oil salesman, no longer a principled statesman.

Had Cruz stuck to what he believes in, rather than rationalizing his false witness; had he given the principled stands his best shot, and accepted gracefully that this year the voters preferred Trump; Cruz would have had a great future. Now? I, for one, will mourn his fall, even as I work ever harder to put Donald Trump in the White House.

I did not write the religious, as there are many religious who support Trump. I meant his religious as those religious so devoted to Cruz for religious reasons (fulfillment of Mormon prophecy, Pentecostal anointed ruler, et. al.). It is difficult for his religious to come down from that high and stop giving him their family dollars, so to speak.
