I see your point and concur. The reporter failed to provide the details we needed to complete the picture.

So, I wandered over to the patch (dotcom) only because it was one of the top three search results. Looks like ‘media communications’ is off the table; Joseph Ventre is a history teacher. The video was also at the site.

From a ‘cultural studies’ perspective, I found it borderline suitable for 14-17yo’ds who’s brains are still wiring and who may not understand sarcastic showmanship. And, for conservative parents anyway, a little heavy on the use of vulgarity side. Now I don’t know if there’s an equivalent rant about Cruz or Kasich floating around, which would seem to be necessary viewing if some comparative lesson was being taught. Maybe someone can interview Mr. Ventre as to why he chose the Stewart segment over other material, and what point he was attempting to make to a captive and impressionable audience.

Ventre, btw, has reportedly withdrawn his letter of resignation. So maybe he’d be open to discussing his intent.

Good research. I wonder if we’ll find out what his intent was? A couple of my history teachers in high school were coaches. When they wanted to prepare for an important game, they’d roll in a TV and pop in a VHS with a taped episode of whatever show was popular at the time. We got a break and they got to concentrate on the game. It was a win-win. I suspect that wouldn’t go over today, but I’m doubtful there was an intended lesson involved in this case.
