Critics of ObamaCare have lodged many complaints against the law — about spiraling premiums, unstable insurance markets, high deductibles, burdensome taxes waste, and so on. But here’s an interesting new complaint — ObamaCare is fueling the nation’s opioid epidemic. Even more eye-opening is the source:

I would say even more eye-closing since I'm not going to click through. If you are going to excerpt then do so. If not, don't bother with the click bait.

I have mixed feelings about this problem.

My mother spent the second half of her life in constant pain due to scoliosis.

Her doctors would not prescribe much more than ibuprofen because of the high scrutiny they were under because of opiates.

All she wanted was valium which helped her sleep. They would tell her that she might become addicted.

Telling a 70+ woman that she couldn’t have a low dose prescription for valium that she might become addicted. They knew she was in pain but would do nothing much for her.

I have serious questions about the validity of this article. I was on opioids for over six years. When Florida, under pressure from other states, changed its’ law regarding opioid prescriptions, I was forced into other more expensive treatments. I’ve gone through nerve ablations, epidurals, trigger point injections with Botox, and a change of medications, none of which have been as cheap or effective as my previous opioids. Use of opioids is like gun ownership; it is up to the individual to be responsible.

Internist is the doctor of choice for seniors who are the ones with more pain issues than the general population.

Nerve blocks, steroid shots fail, PT fails or causes more damage and more pain. The rotator cuff tear is to small to repair, that leaky valve in an Enlarged hear is to small to repair, Osteoarthritis and Osteoporosis Rheumatoid Arthritis are all painful diseases along with degenerative backs.

Medicare limited Nerve blocks to 3 per year IF they work. Many don’t.

Why do I need Pain Management to get a pain script when I’ve already been through all the stuff they do with the Ortho and Neurosurgeon. Now I need a new script every month and it must say for CHRONIC PAIN IF you can find a Internist who will write a script for it. And you can forget Lyrica or Neurontin is (gabapentin)
Prednisone. I react badly to the first 2 and the Predinisone taken to long causes your bones to be brittle. Just as Nexium or other PPI drugs do. Osteoporosis drugs tear up you GI system besides being flagged by the USFDA, Foreto is double flagged as it also has a Black Box for Bone Cancer.

Hence driving the general public to street drugs to cope with pain because the doctor is afraid to prescribe. Pretty ingenuous to make the chronic bonafide sufferers criminals. Might even drive them to the soon-to-be-announced euthanasia clinics.
