Congressman urges DOJ to file lawsuit over religious objection law

U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson has sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch, urging the Department of Justice to file a lawsuit against the state in the wake of Gov. Phil Bryant signing House Bill 1523, also known as the religious objection bill, into law.

The law allows certain businesses and religious organizations to deny services to gay, lesbian or transgender people, citing religious beliefs.

"I don't want my state to participate in any form of discrimination," Thompson, who represents the Second Congressional District in Mississippi, said.

Thompson also called the so-called “religious freedom” act overreaching and unconstitutional.

A Canton barbershop owner said he plans to take full advantage of the law after it goes into effect in July.

"If I get a screwball that I don't want to work on, I won't work on the idiot," the businessman, who did not want to be identified, said. "If I know he's gay, he'll hit the streets."

The businessman said those who oppose the new law are "stupid idiots that don't believe in God."

Other Canton businesses disagree. The Visitors Bureau and Film Office said it welcomes any and all visitors and filmmakers to the community.

"We have now put our state on the front row, and we should not be trying to discriminate," Thompson said.

Thompson said he plans to set up a meeting with Lynch when he returns Tuesday to Washington, D.C.

“The businessman said those who oppose the new law are “stupid idiots that don’t believe in God.”

Well, some Mississippians just haven’t heard of political correctness.

The state is not ‘participating in discrimination’ it is simply preventing the legislation of prog morality that has become more and more popular to force upon people from the same folks who decry the ‘legislation’ of Christian morality.

It’s one thing to cut somebody’s hair, but quite another to bake a wedding cake for an unholy matrimony. Some people realize That that cake and the wine toast at a wedding is the breaking of bread wine..ie..communion, and some people don’t.

That’s not the same as cutting hair, or serving a meal, or day care for a child. These types of things don’t violate God’s laws the way a gay wedding does.

The law may be overreaching, I don’t know. I’ve not read it, and I’m not an attorney. But at least parts of it ARE constitutional.

Another thing that God commands is kindness. If you KNOW that a person might object to a questionable lifestyle, don’t ask them to bless YOUR decision, or affirm YOUR decision. It’s MEAN to do that! Violating people that you know have issues is not kind, not in the least.

Affiliate yourselves with businesses that don’t have issues with your decisions. Partner with them, and stop forcing yourself on others who obviously are not comfortable. It’s not their job to make YOU feel good about your decisions.

Otherwise, keep your mouth shut, maintain your privacy (you have a right to privacy) put your own brides and grooms on your cakes and stop performing mental/spiritual rape on people. sheesh... Why should YOU care what they think, anyway?

Forcing people to choose between man’s law and the laws of their religion is about as disrespectful as a person can be.

You can say...I have a wedding to go to when you want to get your hair done. You don’t have to spill all your business to strangers! You can say, I have a wedding to go to and this is the type of hair piece I’ll be using.

If you don’t need something special, then keep your big mouth shut if you don’t know a person’s opinions! Even heterosexuals don’t need to spill all their business. You like the cakes so & so bakes, and you know they’re gay...keep your mouth shut! Put your own bride and groom on the cake!

Common folks, most people are NOT interested in your sex lives!

It’s the unwillingness to discipline ourselves that causes a loss of freedom to ourselves, and others. Self governance is the best protector of freedom for all.

We know that, but unfortunately we also suck at messaging.

Just keep hammering the point that this is for the children and liberals and Dems don’t care about them.

Congressman urges DOJ to file lawsuit over religious objection law, because it follows the Teaching of ISLAM and the Quran.

Change the Title to include Islam, which teaches that HOMOSEXUALITY IS A SIN, Just like the BIBLE.

Watch the story change overnight.

Should a Christian baker be required by law to bake a cake for a homosexual wedding?

Should a black baker be required by law to bake a cake for a KKK event?

Most Democrats would answer “yes’ to the first question and “no” to the second question. But the correct answer to both questions is “NO”.

Bennie Thompson is against any form of discrimination?

So his state should let people of all ages vote, even little children. To do otherwise is to engage in age discrimination. Those kids are under 18 through no fault of their own.

And CONGRESS just sits by and twiddles thier thumbs, especially when Article 3 gives CONGRESS the POWER to Tell the COURT what CASES they Can and CAN’T hear.

They could EASILY Shut Out the Executive Branch completely with legislation!
