The Day the US Military Died
US Defense Watch ^ | March 29, 2016 | Ray Starmann

In the 1993 film, Gettysburg, Lieutenant General James Longstreet says to Harrison, the actor/spy from Mississippi, “You know what’s gonna happen here in the morning?”

Longstreet was attempting to convince Harrison that participating in General Lee’s attack toward the center of the Yankee lines on July 3, 1863, might not be in the best interest for his health and general well-being.

He was also pointing to the fact that Harrison, while motivated to the cause, was incredibly naïve.

US Defense Watch to President Obama, Ash Carter, Ray Mabus, Eric Fanning and the Joint Chiefs…

“You know what’s going to happen after April 1st?”

April 1st is the deadline for the military or Congress or whoever still has the intestinal fortitude to convince the Secretary of Defense and POTUS that their ideas of placing women in the combat arms and special operations are based on pure fantasy, and more importantly are going to put this country in mortal danger.

As of now, it looks like there’s no one coming to the rescue of the United States Armed Forces from its imminent execution date with the Marxist social engineers.

Senator John McCain was supposed to be on this. As of now, USDW has seen nothing from McCain on the subject.

Johnny, we hardly heard Ye.

Except for Congressman Duncan Hunter, other voices in the Congress have been silent as well. As the country focuses on the Trump/Cruz Twitter Wars, the US military burns.

Liberals live in a fantasy world, a virtual unreality, a Willy Wonka’s Factory of imaginary ideas and policies. It is a world where things can be any way you want them, just because you want them to be that way. Want to pretend we’re beating ISIS, when we aren’t. No problem, roll out John Kerry and have him tell the world we’re beating ISIS. Want to pretend women can be Navy SEALs, when everyone on the planet knows it’s simply impossible. No problem, send Ash Carter out and have him make a speech as Joe Dunford stands next to him looking like he’s swallowing whole grade cyanide.

It’s a sign of the times…

The military, from the Joint Chiefs down to middle management is suffering from massive cognitive dissonance. Everyone knows the concept of women in the infantry, armor, artillery and special operations is sheer madness, but no one says anything, for the fear of being tossed out and becoming one of the 102 million Americans currently not participating in the work force.

While women can and do serve in a majority of the positions in the military, the combat arms and special operations are different.

Women simply do not have the upper body strength, the aerobic lung capacity and the testosterone laced aggressiveness to complete most combat arms and special operations missions. They are also more prone to injuries and women have obvious hygiene issues that make their deployment into field environments untenable.

For example, during the Gulf War, the author did not shower for fifty days. This is nothing strange for a combat unit deployed in a war zone. During WWII, most GI’s landing on D-Day didn’t get their first shower until two or three months later. In Vietnam, troops would go out on patrols for weeks at a time, without access to any hygienic facilities.

The problem with policies made by people, who have no experience, is simply that they have no experience. They are either bureaucrats or zealots who have rarely, if ever, spent one moment in the military or in a war zone. Ash Carter doesn’t know anything about serving in the combat arms or special ops. His idea of pogey bait is a five course meal at the Ritz Carlton.

Here are some more questions Carter and Mabus and Fanning and Obama have certainly never asked themselves:

How is a five foot two, 95 pound woman supposed to kill a six foot two inch, 200 pound Jihadi in hand to hand combat?

How is a woman supposed to carry the heavy loads of 70 pounds or more an infantry soldier carries into war?

How is a woman supposed to lift a 155mm artillery shell that weighs 100 pounds?

How is a woman supposed to pass BUD/s, US Navy SEAL training?

The list could go on for fifty pages. It is not an indictment of women who perform many jobs in the military very well. It is an indictment of the stupidity, cowardice and political correctness of our leaders.

The naysayers will point to the fact that three women graduated from US Army Ranger School last autumn. The Army loves to boast about this accomplishment for females, yet it refuses to release any information relating to the three females performances at Fort Benning. In fact, the Army is still flouting a request from Congressman Steve Russell (R., OK) and the House Armed Services Committee to turn over the Ranger School records of the three women, one of which was a 37 year old mother.

Reality check: 37 year old men don’t make it through Ranger School during an honest assessment. Most 27 year old men don’t make it through Ranger School.

Talk about a Bridge too Far.

Others will say wars are high tech now and fought with drones and lasers. It’s all a big Nintendo game where everyone gets a shower and three hots and a cot every day. Wrong. Just ask the boys that fought in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The US military may have the high tech tools of war, but the story remains the same: soldiers and Marines are needed to take and hold ground as Roman Legions were needed 2000 years ago.

Ash Carter mentioned recently that “standards will be kept the same.” No they won’t Mr. Secretary, they never are. That’s part of the BIG LIE.

Reports are already emanating from Benning that women had special treatment at Ranger School from Day One: showers every three days, a pink curtain around the field cathole, pre-pre Ranger training, a nutritionist, etc, etc, etc.

A pink curtain, now that’s tactical.

Supposedly, standards in fire departments are the same, yet I never see women responding to a fire. They’re back in the fire house making coffee or working on the computer. If you were trapped in a fire, who do you want carrying you out of the burning building, a male bodybuilder or a 100 pound yogini female?

The military has been lying to itself for years over physical standards for women. Ninety-eight percent of the females that graduate from US Navy Basic Training at Great Lakes fail the fire hose carry test. Women simply do not have the upper body strength to haul a heavy hose up several flights of stairs and put out a simulated fire.

So, what, one may ask, does the US Navy do when a ship stocked with females is hit in battle and catches fire?

It burns and people die, in order that political correctness may live on.

Isn’t it neat? We’re being progressive: women in Delta Force, women in the infantry, women in armor and artillery.

It’s soooo Sanders…

A president who can’t even say radical Islamic terrorism as the monsters come out on ISIS Street and loot and butcher the planet thinks this is just a swell idea.

The social engineers have never understood that war is not an equal opportunity employer and neither is the military.

A 50 year old guy is too old to join the Green Berets and the military in general. Why? Because 50 year old men can’t complete physical tasks as efficiently as they could when they were 20. Does that mean that we should all go out and demand Obama authorize us to be in SF?

No, the nation’s defense hinges on the fact that young, aggressive studs are in Special Forces, not AARP card holders.

Carter, Dunford, Dempsey, Mabus, Fanning, McHugh; they aren’t some great progressives doing some awe-inspiring deed for humanity like freeing the slaves. They are destroyers. They are a wrecking crew. They are Obama’s willing executioners.

As the world is being attacked by Muslim butchers, we deliberately weaken ourselves.

As the Chinese build armed sandcastles and unload military erector sets in the South China Sea, we commit national suicide.

Isn’t it neat? Women in the SEALs. Just like in the movie with Demi Moore.

It’s almost like a Hollywood fantasy come true.

It is a fantasy.

Years from now, when the nation is in ruins and the military lies in a million broken pieces scattered across the globe, the people will wonder what went wrong and who is responsible.

Those responsible are those who wear the uniform right now. In an attempt to protect their livelihoods, they have forgotten the almighty words of Douglas MacArthur…

And through all this welter of change and development your mission remains fixed, determined, inviolable. It is to win our wars. Everything else in your professional career is but corollary to this vital dedication. All other public purpose, all other public projects, all other public needs, great or small, will find others for their accomplishments; but you are the ones who are trained to fight.

Yours is the profession of arms, the will to win, the sure knowledge that in war there is no substitute for victory, that if you lose, the Nation will be destroyed, that the very obsession of your public service must be Duty, Honor, Country.

April 1, 2016…

April Fools’ Day, what a fitting irony to what people in the future will say was The Day the US Military Died.

The biggest problem will be during the boring down time. That’s when mixing young men and women together will kill unit cohesion.

I am going to repost some comments on the general subject from another thread from last Fall:

Comments from my niece’s boyfriend on the women Rangers and the convenient loss of their training records a week or so ago. Applies here too.

He was a Marine 240 gunner, spent time in Afghanistan, this guy is serious business, we probably wish he’d gone to SEAL school, he’d have had a much better than average shot at it. Here’s his commentary on the Ranger school records debacle:

“Oh trust me, I’m aware. S*** makes my blood boil. I’m not even phased by the fact that they’re deliberately hiding the records of the females’ performance. I can only imagine how heavily that course was catered to the females, not to mention the fact that they probably outranked the entire instructor cadre.

We had a female interpreter in afghan, she was at the Company COP so I never saw her. She ended up having an affair with our Co 1st Sgt (surprise).

We also worked with the Brits for a while, since they had a patrol base not far from my squads pb. They also happened to bring in a female interpreter...pregnant in under 2 months, and sent home. Probably got an award for it.

Even if there were females that could meet the minimum physical requirements for the infantry, that s*** will never work. It’ll be detrimental to the combat effectiveness of whatever unit they end up in. Let’s not forget the American “victim” mentality as of late. I can’t even fathom how many sexual harassment cases that would be filed. Then the rape accusations, pregnancies, relationships affecting roles and promotions, oh and the fact that no woman on the planet could firemans carry my 240lb a** with 100+lbs of gear out of a kill zone.

Rant over.

< next email, a few minutes later>

Ok I lied, rant wasn’t finished.

At the schoolhouse I taught at, we brought in non infantry units (POGs) and put them through several infantry centric courses. We had a strict standard of training and had no issues failing females or Marines that outranked us as instructors. This brought us some attention from higher ups on one occasion. A female warrant officer brought pizza for all 50 of “her” marines in our course. During their final exercise. We stopped her and reminded her of the fact that no outside food was permitted in our course. She returned with, “The four females I have in the class are going to feel sexually harassed by you if you don’t let them eat this pizza”.

The article assumes women will be in direct combat. Less than 10% of our military is involved in combat. There are non-combat jobs even in Special Ops. Back in the 80s I taught shipboard firefighting, most of the women had no problem, those who couldn’t make the cut were dropped along with those who couldn’t pass the other courses.

A woman does not have to life a 155mm artillery shell that weighs 100 pounds!

A 155mm artillery shell, US M107 projectile, weighs 96.73 pounds, not 100 pounds.

;)

I spent several years in 155mm artillery units.

As the country focuses on the Trump/Cruz Twitter Wars, the US military burns.

The candidates are silent on this issue, too.

+1. We are not getting what we should demand from our next CinC: leadership.

I'm not changing my tagline yet, but Cruz needs to pivot away from his family, and back to the issues. My patience is about gone.

I think the actual ratio is about seven soldiers to support each combat soldier. But the issues aren't that women are allowed in the military, it's women being allowed IN COMBAT ARMS, which has a much higher percentage of being in combat. Sure, much of today's fight isn't linear like a real war, but combat arms are still the guys tasked with direct engagement of enemy forces. It's one thing to have women in your unit and get attacked, it's another thing entirely when you have women and your primary mission is heavy physical effort for the purpose of engaging the enemy. Not something that's easily done when you don;t have the physical strength or stamina to do nearly as much work. Women also require more hygiene. That means space and weight that could go to more useful things in your ruck, like ammo or water. Women can't deal with poor living conditions as well as men either. And the biggest issue within that is that standards are being dropped in order to facilitate women getting in to these roles. It's not that some women are big and strong enough to do the job, it's that they (mostly) aren't, but are still being pushed up. The two women that 'passed' Ranger school are, I'm sure, pretty badass, but they were definitely not up to the standards of actually being a Ranger. And, conveniently, their records just happen to be the one class, in decades of Ranger school, that is somehow destroyed completely. All this coverup just furthers the idea that they didn't pass like every other guy that did it.
