Maybe I have it backwards, but according to Trump, about two months ago, Cruz was equal to or worse than Obama or Hillary. I read it here, on FR.
Go back any look if you do not believe me.

Yesterday he said Donald and Hillary were opposite sides of the same coin.

Ted you deserve the label, Lying Ted.

Cruz is a huge douche. If anyone is Obama it’s Cruz. 3 year junior senator with zero accomplishments, questionable natural born citizenship status, and a lawyer with no executive experience. We’ve tried this before. Doesnt work.

But it doesn’t bother you at all that Cruz is a dupe and stooge for the Bush Dynasty, the leaders of the establishment we’re all fighting against. They’re pulling his strings. It’s the reason he’s made some bizarre political moves the past few weeks.

When Trump said Cruz was worse than Obama and hillary, was he referring to the dirty tricks to “win” the Iowa primary?

Ted’s right, they are,”different sides of the same coin” but it was actually Fiorina that said that.

Trump is Obama on the right.
There will be no difference except the sides he takes. He will just pull us to the other side. Tyrants. Both of them.

The difference between “build a wall” and “heal the planet” probably isn’t very much.

What a laugh riot! Let's sketch this out:

I will get rid of Common Core = I will get rid of Gitmo
I am very rich = I am the author of Dreams of my Father
I opposed the Iraq War = I opposed single payer health plan
I will bring factories back from China = I will save the Christians in the Middle East
from the Muslims
When I'm president, the sound of "Merry Christmas" will be heard again = The sound of
Muslim morning prayer is one of the most beautiful sounds on earth

In some ways, yes.

First, they both have a devoted cult of personality around them that will fight hard at any criticism, even if it may be true. (And if the facts contradict their narrative, the facts lie.)

Second, they both have a love for executive power. Recall Trump’s pledge to sign an executive order establishing the death penalty for murdering a law-enforcement officer. Good policy perhaps, but it’s a legislative function, not an executive one (and arguably a state function, not a Federal one.)

Third, they’re both polarizing figures. Very few people are neutral about either of them. Trump is the Republican frontrunner, but also has the highest negatives. (Sort of like the Yankees?)

So the comparison is not altogether inapt.

Ted Cruz has become so disgusting to me that I would actually campaign against him ever having a cabinet position in a Trump administration.

To have Trump alienate Cruz would insure that HilBern is our next president.
To have Cruz alienate Trump may, or may not, do the same
Trump has alienated people, on both sides, that he may not get back.
Cruz is gambling that it may or may not.
Time will tell, but 60 to 70% of republicans are against Trump and 100% of Democrats are.
Cruz, Rubio, or Kasich could pull in the independents that Trump cannot now, in light of recent events.
The voters will not vote for a bully or braggard, it simply will not happen. You do not have enough of a coalition.
He could win the primary, but he will lose the general.
Yo cannot win with just averaging 35% of the republican vote, on average, no matter how mad you get.
