Trump Finally Asserts Private Property Rights (On the recent protests/riots)

I am increasingly liking this guy.

Following Friday night’s unrest in Chicago before one his rallies, Trump was met with protests and countless interruptions in Ohio and Missouri.

“I hope they arrest these people, because honestly they should be,” Trump said to cheers from the crowd. “The only way to stop the craziness is to press charges.”

Excellent.

I know, you'll call me a racist or some other sort of name.  You're the racist, however, if you do.

Let me explain and hopefully your blood pressure will return to normal -- and you'll see why Trump is the only choice for President, because he believes what you actually believe, once you think about it.

Donald Trump, like all candidates for political office, rents his space for rallies and such.  Nobody gives away aircraft hanger and football stadium time for free.  He pays for it out of campaign funds he, or some group directly affiliated with him, controls.

You do so with your home or business too.  You pay rent or a mortgage.  If you rent an apartment, house, hotel room, business location, or have a mortgage, you own, during the time of that rental or payment, that space.

Now let's assume you have a hotel room which you rented for the night.  You decide to watch The Superbowl on television, and you rented the hotel room because you intend to drink, and will be too drunk to drive.  In other words, you're a responsible adult.

You decide to allow some other people into your room to watch the game too, all of whom tell you they want to watch the game with you.

But, as soon as the game comes on, you find out that some of the people lied.  They came to sing loud Christian songs, and one by one they do, standing in front of the TV so you cannot see the game and refusing to stop.

You'd throw them out.

If they refused to leave you'd really throw them out, and whatever reasonable level of physical force was necessary to eject them would not only be ok morally it would be lawful too.

That room is your property during that period of time and those other people came there under false pretense.  They lied to you in order to gain admission as they had no intention in participating in the peaceful watching of the Superbowl.

The same applies at your house or apartment, of course.  If you invite me over to watch a movie and I instead decide that I'm going to try to prevent you from doing so by rising from my chair and displaying a nasty slogan on my shirt along with blocking your TV, and perhaps screaming epithets at the top of my lungs, you would throw me out.

Here's reality folks: You either respect private property rights or you do not.

There is no middle ground and someone who intentionally comes to such a rally under false pretense is breaking both the law and the right of everyone else there to peaceably assemble and hear said speech.

Everyone does, however, also have a First Amendment right to protest -- that is, to free speech -- as well.  You may exercise that right anywhere that is not private property, or where the person with the right to control said private property during that period of time consents.  That is, you may assemble (peacefully, once again) outside the venue on the public sidewalk, in a public park, or any other place that is not rented or owned by someone else who does not give you permission to assemble for that purpose and demonstrate or protest away.

However, that right of demonstration only extends to peaceful protest.  Smashing car windows in a parking garage is not peaceful protest, nor is throwing things onto a public street.

Bernie Sanders, Ted Cruz, John Kascich and Hillary Clinton all have the same right to rent and peacefully enjoy the possession of property upon which they hold campaign rallies, just as does Donald Trump.  Bernie and I are about as far apart politically as two people can be, but if I showed up at his rally for any purpose other than listening to his speech I would be committing a crime -- trespass -- and if I attempted to prevent his security (or the police) from removing me when detected I would be committing further offenses to quite-probably include disorderly conduct, assault and/or battery.  If I incite others to do so as a group or coordinated that disruption and it turned into a violent event I would commit the act of inciting a riot, and in most locales that is a felony.

The protesters in Chicago who gained entry to the venue were coordinated, not single individuals.  Whether they self-organized or not is immaterial; they were locating themselves in a block of people near the stage.  They trespassed, and had they committed their act of disruption if the event had gone on they would have committed further offenses.

These offenses need to be prosecuted as the violation of the rights of not only the person who owns that property during that period of time (in this case Trump) but also the rights of everyone else who was there for the announced purpose.

It's time to put a stop to this crap, and this is the correct and lawful means of doing so.

With that title, I thought the guy was going to be dredging up Kelo.

Thankfully this election is now hinging on MUCH BIGGER ISSUES than a screwed up court decision.

Announcement about 45 minutes prior to the Cleveland Rally yesterday:

This is a private event paid for by Donald Trump...

They then go on to tell you what to do if someone disrupts the event. Hold your rally sign over your head, point at the person causing the disruption, and start chanting...Trump, Trump, Trump so security can remove them from the event. Do not touch the disrupter.

I like my example better, posted elsewhere earlier this morning in response to a BernieBozo:
So let's see.

Let's say this were an NBA game, obviously not a "private event," and a group of people in white hoods took over the court demanding more "diversity" among NBA player rosters. Would you advocate waiting for the white hooders to get tired of their protesting, or would you advocate having police forcibly remove them and charge them with an assortment of felonies?

Trump respects property rights. He respects what he thinks is his right to your property and is willing to use the government to take ones property to give to someone else for business purposes.

Gee, where is Mr. Constitutional Law, Ted Cruz on this?

Last I heard he blamed Trump, not the criminals.

They gave those instructions in Wichita KS, as well, several days before the recent escalations. T

here was a protester there, and Trump sternly commanded, “SIT DOWN!!”... and the protester did!!!

Trump got a laugh by pointing out because the protestor was so weak and pathetic. it proves how tough Kansans are!
