Racism – The New “McCarthyism”
Coach is Right ^ | 3/10/16 | Peggy Ryan

McCarthyism is the political practice of publicly accusing someone of disloyalty or subversion with no real proof or evidence. In the 1950’s, Senator Joseph McCarthy’s anti-communist crusade took root and rose to legendary ferocity. During the McCarthy period, suspicion and accusations were enough to convict the accused even with inconclusive or questionable evidence. As a result of the public charges, many had their careers and reputations destroyed; some even went to prison over the mere suggestion they were a Communist.

Today we have a new McCarthyism. It’s called racism. Though in a different wrapper, accusations of racism also involve trial without jury, guilty until proven innocent. Application of the racist tag has the same goal as the Communist label-to brand the enemy and turn the mood of the public against the accused. Our country is once again writhing with hysterical seizures over baseless allegations and propagated rumors as a person with no history of bias is being burned at the stake thanks to a fraudulent claim.

Donald Trump is the latest victim of this tactic. No, Trump is not a racist. He’s spent a lifetime in business with a stellar record of diversity. Cliché though it may be, many of Donald’s best friends are black, even nationally known black activists. All who know Trump testify that he doesn’t have a racist bone in his body. So how is this racist charge garnering so much national attention?

Entrenched politicians in both parties eagerly embrace the device of accusing enemies of racism. This election cycle, the perpetrators are the political bosses who refuse to give up their power. Trump threatens that power if elected so to keep control, the GOP establishment,(GOPe) play the race card; just as they did in 2014.

In the 2014 Mississippi Senate primary, the establishment candidate...

Once again, I have come to the inevitable conclusion that there are far worse things in the world than racism.

This is why the KKK questions never stop with Trump. All part of a bigger plan.

It’s odd, but some who wield the racism sword are white liberal democrats.

I can remember this going on in Ontario back in the early 1990s (under the Bob Rae NDP government). Basically, the government wanted anyone accused of racism to be guilty until proven innocent. One of the many reasons that government was a disaster and why I became a conservative.

I think pdo trumps racist, and certainly the proof for both are the same, no?

I find Cruz to be especially guilty of the McCarthy tactics.

*Trump’s tax returns might show his Mob ties

*Why won’t Trump okay the release of the NYT’s Off the Record interview? He’s hiding something.

Joe McCarthy was a REAL Patriot:

“The enemies of McCarthy have seized on his good-natured remark about shooting down coconut trees from his tail-gunner’s spot (ABC’s three-hour movie about McCarthy in 1977 was entitled Tail Gunner Joe) to belittle his military accomplishments, but the official record gives the true picture. Not only were McCarthy’s achievements during 30 months of active duty unanimously praised by his commanding officers, but Admiral Chester Nimitz, commander-in-chief of the Pacific Fleet, issued the following citation regarding the service of Captain McCarthy:

For meritorious and efficient performance of duty as an observer and rear gunner of a dive bomber attached to a Marine scout bombing squadron operating in the Solomon Islands area from September 1 to December 31, 1943. He participated in a large number of combat missions, and in addition to his regular duties, acted as aerial photographer. He obtained excellent photographs of enemy gun positions, despite intense anti-aircraft fire, thereby gaining valuable information which contributed materially to the success of subsequent strikes in the area. Although suffering from a severe leg injury, he refused to be hospitalized and continued to carry out his duties as Intelligence Officer in a highly efficient manner. His courageous devotion to duty was in keeping with the highest traditions of the naval service.”

Except that McCarthy was right. Most charges of racism are political BS.

It’s almost laughable how the conventional wisdom is that Joe McCarthy was dreaming or some kind of nutjob.

No direct proof maybe - MAYBE - but the anecdotal evidence at the time and subsequent events strongly suggest Mr. McCarthy was right on.

What’s worse than being racist today is being a hypocrite. Or a perceived hypocrite. It’s the new heretic!

The article isn’t about McCarthy as much as the hysteria that surrounded him. As is now the case, the accuser didn’t have to prove the chard and the accused couldn’t defend against the charge.

Like KKK charge with Trump, nothing he does stops the talking points, accusation, and questions.

McCarthy was about 90% right, as was shown when the old Soviet Union archives were opened to view.

Damn that sort of thinking is scary. But yet, here we are with the same sort of philosophy - if you’re in the public eye, you’re white, not full blown progressive, and even a remote connection can be made to racism - you’re a racist.
My kids throw that term around as well, and I nip it in the bud every time.
