The Conservative Spring (Poetry)

The Conservative Spring -- A Poem

I

The Constitution of the United States has been ignored.

for too long. Its' adherents have stood by with anger.

The constitutionalists demanded that it be followed but were ignored.

Actions taken by liberals will no longer be ignored.

Those who value the Constitution are being driven by a desire

to correct the mistaken laws passed by the Left. They can't be ignored

this election cycle. However, the call for correction has been ignored,

by the American Left. The way the Constitution is understood will change

in the aftermath of this election and the country will change

as a result. The political Right will no longer tolerate being ignored

by the left. The various candidates for the GOP are looked upon with hope.

The stances offered by the candidates give the Right some hope

II

that the establishment leaders of the GOP will lose all hope

of controlling the Party. From those ashes will rise a conservative movement that won't be ignored.

The thought that the GOP leadership will be broken gives us hope

as well. Two candidates each have supporters who have placed great hope

in the candidates' ability to tap into the overwhelming anger

of the Right; and provide their supporters a reason to hope

that the most immoral laws passed by the Left are repealed. The hope

of the Right to roll-back Leftist laws has been a strong desire

for many years. The Left has steadily undermined this election unleashed a hope nation with the desire

to destroy it. The candidacy of a strong populist this nation with the desire

to destroy it. The candidacy of a strong populist this election unleashed a hope

that the long awaited Conservative revolution has arrived. That it will change

the course of this nation and make the Left lament that change.

III

An open seat on the Supreme Court provides added impulse to change

the paradigm of this country. The opportunity to repeal Roe v. Wade is a cherished hope

of the Right. After the election the chance to reign in the Executive branch is a change

much needed. The possibility of removing leftist activists from the Judiciary will change

the very fabric of this nation. During this election, the People will not be ignored.

The cessation of illegal immigration from Mexico will be a change

long sought. The reestablishment of adherence to our Founding principles is a change

that provides much needed energy to this election. These issues are the reasons for the anger

on the political Right this year. The transgressions of the past fuel the anger

enough to work hard and do the small things that will change

the country. These issues, which conservatives detest provide the desire

to make this election the most important in years. The desire

IV

of the Left is the imposition of despotic government. It is that desire

also that provides an impetus for this revolution to change

the United States into a more conservative nation. That desire

has elevated a populist to a position of leadership and his supporters desire

his victory. Others prefer a different candidate with the same hope

for the reduction of Leftist influence here. All conservatives desire

that the CONSERVATIVE SPRING will bring forth a bounty of desire

to revere the Constitution. As such, this election can't be ignored.

The old standard of media control of information will be ignored

as the CONSERVATIVE SPRING brings forth a boundless desire

to remove from this nation the scourge of Liberalism. That anger

is something to behold. Conservatives are attacking enemies with great anger.

V

The Left has responded with their playbook of feigned anger.

However, it is not as effective this Spring because the desire

to correct our country's course is driven by a festering anger

at the arrogance of Left-wing elitists. The Right-wing anger

is not the mindless, petty sort that the Left so deftly feigns. The change

of perception this Spring, has left the entire elitist establishment, left and right bursting with anger.

The establishment elites have no ability to control the anger

of the People this election and this circumstance leaves our enemies bereft of hope.

It also provides conservatives with a buoyant sense of hope

for this nation. The loss of freedom and the oppression by the Left has brought forth anger

that cannot now be concealed or otherwise appeased. Conservatives will not ignored

this year. This election is simply the revenge of the ignored.

VI

The political Left has long and purposely ignored

the Constitution of this nation. That action has unleashed anger

that cannot be controlled, and it is focused on the desire

to upset the establishment apple cart. It will change

the perception of this nation as weak into one of strength and hope.

This poem, I think perfectly sums up conservative anger this election year.

It is written in the Canzone form with 5 key words that repeat in each stanza in a specific order. Yes it is worded oddly in places and a small amount of poetic license was taken to meet the requirements of the poetic form. The stand-alone Roman numerals are simply there so the computer will format the poem something close to what it is supposed to look like.

Would appreciate constructive criticism which you can then follow with whatever snarky comment you wish to make.

To: txnativegop; All

I think this pretty much sums up the election this year for conservatives.

I applaud the effort. I've never tackled a canzone, and I only have one sestina under my belt.

Unfortunately your "poem" is really just broken-up prose.

A few metaphors sprinkled in might have helped.

It would be great if we were actually backing a conservative.

I hate metaphors. My personality is the bull in the china shop type.

However, I appreciate what you have said and I will take it to heart.

I have written 3 sestinas, the canzone form is much easier than a sestina, at least for me. But as you pointed out, I took the easy way out with it. :)

Thanks FRiend!

It is good to see poetry on FR that isn't all flowery metered rhyming gobbly-de-gook.

So two cheers for your patriotic poem!

Thank you, FRiend!

I tried a rhymed sestina once, but it got the better of me. :(
