Is the establishment going to run a third party candidate to spoil Trump in battleground states?

Posted on 02/26/2016 5:13:55 PM PST by ObamahatesPACoal

This is the theory that makes the most sense. I read Mickey Kaus tweet about it.

Bloomberg can't win Indiana, North Carolina or any of the states McCain lost. It has to be more liberal than that.

Bloomberg spoil in Florida or Nevada or Colorado .

They can't win with a third party but they need to hurt trump in battleground states somewhere.

Bloomberg hurts Clinton more than Trump. He was pretty liberal.

Bloomberg? He’s far more liberal than Trump. What “establishment” are you speaking of?

They will do anything and everything in their power to protect the status quo. And their money train.

DO NOT PUT ANTHING PAST THEM!

In the general, Herr Bloomberg running as an Indie takes far more votes from Hillary than he does from the GOP nominee, no matter who it is.

If Bloomberg, Trump, and Clinton all are running in the same space, that leaves a huge opening for a conservative to swoop in and scoop up center/right votes.

General. Rubio & Jeb long ago accepted 4 years of Clinton from 2017-2021.

If Trump is the nominee, the rest of us will reluctantly jump on his bandwagon. He will be stronger than ever.

Hillary will defeat Colonel Sanders for the Democrat nomination.

Trump will win the Republican nomination.

Hillary will be indicted and Trump will be shown to the dictatorial fraud he is.

Joe Biden will decide to run in Delaware and a few other states in the Northeast.

Katschick will run in Ohio and a few other central states.

No candidate will receive 270 electoral votes so the election will be thrown into the House of Representatives where each state will be allowed to cast one vote for one of the three candidates receiving the most votes.

No Vice Presidential candidate will receive 270 electoral votes. The Senate will elect the one of the two candidates with the most votes to be the vice president. Those two candidates will be Oprah Winfree and Bernie Sanders. Oprah will win.

The House will drag on with no candidate receiving 26 votes.

The Speaker of the House will take up the issue every day for an hour before moving on to other business. This situation will continue with Oprah Winfree effectively being the president until noon on January 20, 2021.

Trump should go third party now. The dems have hillary. The gop-e have rubio. It would be very interesting to see how the voting machines cast their votes.

...what I was going to say. The Florida absentee ballot does not show any GOP 3rd “party”i.e. GOP candidate...

If the GOPe runs a third candidate in the general election after Trump has the nomination, the GOPe will be history...

People will desert them like rats off the Titanic.....

It is so much hypocrisy that they make Trump pledge not to run 3rd party and then threaten to run someone third party themselves.

I would assume that this could be possible IF Trump wins the nomination....

No point in discussing speculation of what could be without a clear picture of what is. And right now, Trump hasn't won anything but a few primaries.

Dede Scozzafava, name ring a bell?

New York 23rd Congressional special election in 2009.

Before the election, she endorsed the Dem candidate to thwart the conservative third party challenger. GOP leadership, including Newt Gingrich supported her until that moment. She later switched her party to become a Democrat. Apparently nobody in the RNC vetted her, or if they did, they had no problem.
