Matt Walsh: Finally, Cruz and Rubio surrounded and decimated Trump

Quick analysis of the debate.

One word: Finally.

Cruz and Rubio surrounded Trump and absolutely decimated him. They attacked his record, his integrity, his character. They interrupted him and talked over him. Rubio in particular was vicious. At a few points he laughed in Trump's face. He made Trump look ridiculous and treated him like a clown.

And that's exactly what they both needed to do, and it's exactly what Trump deserves. The great mystery is why they waited 7 months to do it.

Think about it: There have been approximately 87 debates, and all of the candidates have been on TV approximately 18 million times, double that for Trump, yet this is the FIRST TIME anyone has brought up the fact that Trump is CURRENTLY BEING INVESTIGATED FOR MASSIVE FINANCIAL FRAUD. Rubio hit Trump on this point repeatedly, thank God, but it's the first time any of the candidates breathed a word of it. Rubio also feasted on Trump for hiring illegal immigrants (yes, Trump is the "nationalist" candidate who hires foreign illegals to build his skyscrapers) and being fined a million dollars for it, and again, this has not come up on the campaign trail before.

I'm ecstatic that they both have apparently learned their lesson, I'm flabbergasted that it took this long, and I hope they keep it up. Trump is a fool, a coward, a liar, and a hypocrite, and that's how you must treat him. Make him look like a little boy. Make him look like a buffoon. Refuse to take him seriously. You beat Trump by dragging his skeletons out of the closet, by exposing his secrets, by mocking him ruthlessly. That's how you defeat the King Clown, and it's what I've been saying for months. And it's what Rubio and Cruz did tonight, finally, praise God.

Watching Trump be harassed and flummoxed all night was a great moment for America. It was such a patriotic moment that a bald eagle flew into my living room and wept tears of joy. I'm not kidding. That actually happened.

I don't know if this will matter. Trump's fans are infatuated with him and have sacrificed their reason on the altar of celebrity worship. But if there's any chance of stopping him, this is how it's done. You eat him alive, figuratively speaking, until only bones remain. That's the only way to do it. I've been trying to tell you guys this from the beginning. Rubio and Cruz seemed to have caught on tonight. Let's hope it matters in the end, although I'm afraid it might be too late.

“Trump very foolishly declined to voice his support for Israel last night”

He did many times last night.

Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio may have been circling on The Donald, but whether they managed to shift the dialogue and the odds in their favor, is still a undefined outcome. The Donald has shown a remarkable ability to turn what seemed to be imminent collapse or failure into a renewed surge in the polls. Right now, Cruz APPEARS to be leading in Texas, but the apparent lead could perish overnight. The Donald seems to acquire ever greater gravitational pull, or maybe he is simply breathing up all the oxygen in the room.

What I am say is, The Donald may not be nearly as damaged as some would think.

Screaming childish insult is not the behavior of the “Wise” people. it is the behavior of children throwing a temper tantrum”

There were three people throwing insults last night. I noticed that Rush was completely taken with Rubio’s sneers. Trump got him back, but the fact that Rubio sneered means he won, in Rush’s mind.

Some super righteous woman is decrying the tone of the debates, and how the United States is the laughing stock of the world.

I think Rush is agreeing, of course.

Neither idiot has evidently never seen debate in the British House of Commons.

“Both are ineligible.”

Why do you say that? Rubio was born in the US.

“If you are interested in learning what Mr. Trump actually means, instead of just your usual slander, this interview can be found on You-Tube.”

Usual slander? Based on your vivid imagination.

I heard what Trump said with my own ears. He treats the Israel-Palestinian conflict like a real estate deal. He is afraid he might offend the Palestinians if he calls them what they are - terrorists. The Palestinians voted for Hamas, a terrorist organization, to be and stay in power. Neutrality is a liberal position. That is not slander. It is a fact.

There is little that lies between his ears,
so he resorts to name-calling and many jeers
as if they amounted to valid reasons,
rather than unsupported impressions.

The young man is wise beyond his years.

One way to repel people from Christians or Christian candidates is to act unchristian.

Trump looked like an adult surrounded by two kindergarten cry babies. They tried to out politically incorrect Trump. Like trying to outbox Ali, or out swim Phelps.

It only served to reinforce Trump. My two Latino brothers should have put sombreros on their heads.....they should have had Telemundo and Univision armbands on. This is nothing new, the American people have seen countless times in debates when everyone gangs up on the frontrunner....boring immature. They should have attacked Clinton and Sanders, made fun of them. Should have talked about the destruction the democratic party has done to our cities, to black families.....

ProLife? Must not be that important anymore....except for the one thousand murdered babies everyday.

‎Rubio‬ & ‎Cruz‬ are Arm chair experts on everything. ‎Trump‬ is a self made multi billionaire with real on the gridiron experience - No comparison and the American People know it and will vote accordingly.

The great mystery is why they waited 7 months to do it.

No mystery at all. They have nothing to lose by attacking him. They are facing elimination from the race so why not go for broke?

Rubio and Cruz are professional politicians who thought they could talk and schmooze their way to the nomination. But their 'verbal magic' didn't work. They ran out of words and started throwing stones.

The writer saw what he wanted to see. The reality was quite different. What he praises, are deliberately misleading tactics dependent upon cherry-picking largely irrelevant facts, out of context, and then putting a completely arbitrary interpretation on them. (This sort of thing is a Debate 1.01 type tactic, when you want to distract attention from real issues. It was an embarrassment to those of us who care about real issues; and, in the case of Ted Cruz, for whom we had--and are trying to still have--genuine respect, a terrible let down.)

Frankly, I am praying that Cruz wake up and stop betraying his better self in this compromising manner.

Both are ineligible.

Cruz's eligibility situation is especially troubling.

Under the Immigration and Naturalization Act of 1952, which was the law in effect when Cruz was born, per section 320 Ted Cruz is not a Natural Born citizen, a fact that would be brought up at the Convention:

CHILD BORN OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATES OF ONE ALIEN AND ONE CITIZEN PARENT AT TIME OF BIRTH; CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH CITIZENSHIP AUTOMATICALLY ACQUIRED

Sec. 320. (a) A child born outside of the United States, one of whose parents at the time of the child’s birth was an alien and the other of whose parents then was and never thereafter ceased to be a citizen of the United States, shall, if such alien parent is naturalized, become a citizen of the United States, when -

(1) such naturalization takes place while such child is under the age of sixteen years; and

(2) such child is residing in the United States pursuant to a lawful admission for permanent residence at the time of naturalization or thereafter and begins to reside permanently in the United States while under the age of sixteen years.

Ted Cruz was born outside of the United States in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. His father at the time of birth of Ted Cruz on 22 December 1970 was an alien in relation to the United States, having Cuban citizenship and Canadian Permanent Resident status on the path to Canadian citizenship afterwards. Ted Cruz attained the age of sixteen years on 22 December 1986, at which time his alien father was a Canadian citizen and was not naturalized as a U.S. citizen. Accordingly, Ted Cruz did not meet the conditions necessary to "become a citizen of the United States" as required by Public Law 414 Section 320 CHILD BORN OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATES OF ONE ALIEN AND ONE CITIZEN PARENT AT TIME OF BIRTH; CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH CITIZENSHIP AUTOMATICALLY ACQUIRED

T. Cruz and Robot Rubio left an image of two yapping Cuban lap dogs. Was it Rubio’s cheerleader wife at the debate who was screaming from the audience or a hired screamer?
