I think it's better in some cases for third parties to support the lesser evil of one of the main parties than to put forth their own unknown candidates.
The Green Party, for example, should be supporting Bernie.
I believe the Conservative Party of New York will often support the Republican candidate if he is sufficiently conservative rather than putting up their own candidate.
