I guess that clears up why Ted apologized.

Wait.

Say what?

“I’m sorry” is just good manners, like when you lose a loved one or something bad happens to you even if you are to blame, polite people say “I’m sorry.” It is not in every context any kind of admission of guilt. Granted the political serial apologizers are frustrating. But that does not mean we throw the baby out with the bathwater — good manners still matter.

If you really want to know, Ted apologized to Carson because he is a decent guy and a gentleman.

Ted neither started rumors about Carson nor passed them on.
CNN started the rumor ... now conveniently denying it .. and some of Ted’s more enthusiastic team members ... a few .. passed it on.

Ted neither named nor blamed his team. That’s not his style. Others are in the blame game.

He was sorry it happened and he told Carson so. Carson accepted the apology privately but then did a Trump and decided to try and get a little press out of it.

Carson seems to have forgotten that it was Trump who utterly destroyed him early on when he had more of a following.

Trump used vicious lies and allegations against Carson.

Neither Trump nor Carson have my respect at this point.
