That’s basically what I was told, the choice was between retaining some semblance of good faith and screwing somebody over for a buck... such decisions are a no-brainer for Trump.

Trump isn’t my guy, but he beats every establishment candidate by a mile. He may very well be just another swindler, but the RINO establishment types have made screwing over their voters a priority for so long it hardly matters.
Even if Trump is as bad as you say he is no worse than what we will get voting for Jeb or Rubio.
