Trump said months ago he personally thinks this is a non-ssue..here’s a quote to Jonathan Karl from last September

Here's a quote from Donald Trump from last March: "You're supposed to be born in this country, so I just don't know how the courts would rule on it. But it's an additional hurdle that he has that no one else seems to have...Someone could look at it very seriously." Someone like Trump apparently.

So it's an issue in March, not an issue in September, and an issue again in January? Trump seems to be quite a flip-flopper.

Stop twisting.

Some times understanding Trump requires one to be quite the contortionist.

“Desperate”...oh sure, he’s the picture of desperation.../s

If it’s fair game for Odumbo, it’s fair game for Cruz, and you can bet it’ll be brought up again and again.

Cruz has plenty of issues, but this isn’t one of them.

"...drunk at the bar... doesn't have basic knowledge of anything... thinking people would know that..."

Aside from the fact that Trump doesn't drink, to accuse Trump and his current supporters of being 'non compos mentis' is beyond the pale when you consider the penultimate goal for Cruz would be to persuade Trump supporters to support Cruz.

This counter productive 'screw-loose-lu' approach is almost funny if it weren't so destructive. I am surprised that you haven't gotten a memo from his staff.

It wouldn't matter, libbylu is so blinded by her hate of Trump, she fails to understand that she is the unwitting handmaiden (like many of her ilk) of the GOPe, the libtard media, the 'RATS and all the rest of the Trump-hating swarms of lo-info-mofo types.

I have predicted recently that as this primary season goes on, that we will inevitably (and unfortunately) see a major Zot Thread where all of the Trump-haters will be compelled like moths to a flame to reveal themselves as the tools and fools of the enemies of conservatism, and they won't understand until they get the big ZOT that not only were they misguided, they were fatally wrong in their behavior.

However when it is all over and the smoke clears, FR will be even more conservative and powerful than ever before.

Thomas Jefferson said "the Tree of Liberty must periodically be watered with the blood of patriots and tyrants" and his words could easily be paraphrased here, i.e., "The Mighty Oak that is Free Republic must sometimes be pruned and trimmed of the dead wood, of any termite infestation, and unsightly fungus that are detrimental to the continued life of that Oak."

“But for President and VP? Those are the only nationally elected pols so you’d have chaos if every state could set its own rules. Eligibility for state and local office should be settled at the state level, of course.”

No, incredibly dangerous. Almost as bad as disarming everyone.

We need local governments to each decide on their own vetting process of eligibility. The feds can’t be trusted to disqualify someone. Too much central power.

Similar example, the supreme court ruled on Al Gore’s ‘pregnanat chads’ in Florida [aka ‘flori-duh’]. They ruled themselves more oversight authority over vote-counting even though they ruled in favor of GW Bush. Dangerous precedent.

Imagine the supreme court ruling that only a certain computer should be used to count our votes. About the same as being in charge of eligibility questions.

It really hit me when screw-loose-lu posted that the almost 10,000 folks at the MA rally were "5 year olds." That type of comment is self-aggrandizing and leads no one to the fold. Even a tent revival tells the souls in attendance that they have value if they just would believe.

It is Satan's approach to suggest we are valueless - as in Job 2:9, "Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die."

I've noticed that Trump minions, like Trump himself, just cannot carry on a debate without resorting to attempts at personal insult. Very odd.

Cruz needs to get written assurance in advance from a majority of supreme court justices that they will not permit any courts to meddle with his natural born status.

I know it sounds unfair, but we need to be assured that the supreme court will not allow political rulings by rogue justices.

Is that or is that not a reasonable suggestion?
_________________________________________________________

No, it is not reasonable.

Those very same Justices should have to recuse themselves from any case regarding Cruz’ eligibility because they would have ruled on the case prior to hearing it. You say we cannot trust the federal courts yet your suggestion means that the courts would make a ruling based on facts or arguments they have not yet heard.

How would it be if you were found guilty of a crime that you did not commit, and had the evidence to prove your innocence, in advance of having a trial?

What a complete crock! Trump has never said Cruz is not eligible to run. Trump has said the issue is precarious,,not that Cruz is a liar or anything like that. Trump is trying to say, and those with brain cells get it, that there is much hay to be made by anyone if they wish to churn up Cruz’s birthplace as an issue. Trump is not saying he agrees with it. He is saying he thinks it’s going to be an issue for Cruz.
_______________________________________________________

You are partially correct. Trump didn’t say Cruz was ineligible. He simply planted a seed of doubt saying others could make an issue out of it. I am a Cruz supporter and have no problem with Trump’s statement. It was a good political move on his part — Defend Cruz and at the same time throw something out there that others will hammer Cruz on.

The planting a seed of doubt part was a good move. Look at the controversy it has generated on FR!

The haters can’t stick with the truth so they have to twist. Getting really old.

Well said. The Democrats have been making an issue of it on social media now for a couple weeks now that Cruz has gone up in the polls. I wonder if Levin today will report what Trump said or will he twist it so he can scold Trump again.

Right, Mikey. Trump has about twice as much support as any other candidate, and he’s desperate.

Losing argument, Trump. Cruz meets the requirement for “natural born citizen.” PERIOD.

But thanks for giving the leftwing media some ammunition to attack Cruz while making you look like an idiot. /SARC Thought you were smarter than that, Trump.

Was leaning towards Trump. Now leaning towards Cruz. Well done, again, Trump! /double SARC

Well said, but Trump should have stayed away from this particular issue IMHO. Anything he says about it is too easily twisted by the LSM and GOPe to hurt him AND Cruz.

Just MHO...

“I hear you about not wanting the feds to meddle even more in our lives. But for President and VP? Those are the only nationally elected pols so you’d have chaos if every state could set its own rules.”

Every state has its own vote counting rules and ballot eligibility rules. Chaos? In a way, but look at Iran —

Mullahs of Iran can decide who is eligible to run. That gives them oligarchial power and makes the theocracy strong. We would have oligarchs if we too surrender too much eligibility authority to the Federal government.

As it was, the House Speaker can write an eligibility form, and Pelosi perverted that process for Obama.

Excellent points. The feds deciding who could run would be a disaster.

I did not know the HOR could write an eligibility form. Pelosi stopped it with Obama, I get that. But Republicans have controlled the HOR for over two years now. So why haven't they done it? Why didn't Cruz encourage it?
