Got any idea if there’s a podcast?
I think so, maybe in a day or two.
Please post a link to the podcast when it’s up. I’ll probably spot it, but I would appreciate a ping if you remember.
I got it to work using the current LTS version of Kubuntu and Chrome. Chrome launched mplayer, and I’m listening to it now. BUT... I had ZERO success with Debian on another machine I have.
I tend to stream radio stations all day long. Tune-in and iHeart, Levin 24/7 and some website based individual station things work fine. I didn’t have time to mess around, so just complained - ;-) .
Same here .... couldn’t hear it.... missed it. We will have to ask the LT to share the high points here when he gets time....
Yeah, same here. Couldn't get the broadcast to load. Would like to get a summary of the interview/discussion when you have the time, Travis.
Cool, thanks for letting us know. Put me on your ping list for when the podcast is available?
Bump, good interview!
Please keep me posted on where I can download it when it’s available. I didn’t catch it in time, but would LOVE to hear it!
I have “almost” ZERO problems with just getting things to work on the Ubuntu box, but it’s “almost” latest and greatest. The Debian box is a little older and is hit and miss though...and like you, sometimes I just do NOT feel like troubleshooting it. :-)
The Mint desktop just seemed more logical and efficient for me.
The part that I love compared to Windows is that it shuts off in 4 seconds.
Updates work way better too.
I'd tried all sorts of Linuxes over the years, but this fall found that it was mature enough for me on a Desktop PC to go to it full time (with the VM VirtualBox windoze boxes to run specific software - eg Garmin)
There is little in the VM for malware to infect/hassle/steal.
Plus if it goes South, I keep its parent available to generate a new sacrificial lamb in seconds. No more reloading hours...
Kool that is...
Me too.
Good to see you HH
Happy New Year y'all
Good to see you too! :-)
What exactly are you using to run IE inside of a VM? I’d love to find something that uses less resources than VM-Ware player, or VirtualBox. Thanks! :-)
Bumpitty bump bimp, Matt.
An Oracle VirtualBox with a load of 32 bit XPP running on a 64-bit Linux Mint load on a new SSD on a 6-yr old 4-core desktop.
Ah yes... VirtualBox. I’ve used it before, although it’s been awhile. The last time I used it, I couldn’t get it to recognize USB devices. Maybe it’s improved since then. :-) I’ll give it a try again. Thanks! :-)
