I'm defending the right of people to carry guns (and kids to carry toy guys) in public without getting shot by the police.

There was a 911 call that said the kid was holding a gun and pointing it at people walking by. The caller clearly said he was scaring people. He also said 3 different times that it looked like a kid and he thought the gun was probably fake. The dispatcher never passed this on to the police responding to the call. So as far as the cops were concerned they were responding to a real threat. If anyone was at fault it was the dispatcher.

Probably - that is assuming that you were pointing it at others and the police.

“Annoying the caller”

What kind of liberal nonsense is that?

Brandishing a weapon is what that is called.

You don’t point guns (real or fake) at people period, unless you intend to destroy them, period

If his mommy and daddy failed to teach him that very important life saving lesson, than who’s fault is that?

Not the police, they have a hard job to do, without the need of people pointing fake guns at them to get a deadly reaction.

His mommy and daddy failed to teach him that you don’t point fake guns at people (or the police) or they might shoot back thinking it was a real one. My parents taught me that when I was young (like around 7)

And that's not even to mention the racially charged use of “thug,” which has become internet code in many sectors for the n-bomb.

This reporter needs to get a new Thesaurus and brush up on his English 101 skills.

“Thug” is not an Internet code for the N-Bomb.

The N-Bomb is a noun. (Unless,of course, you are a member of a certain minority demographic. In that case to hear them talk, ,it's an entire vocbulary.)

Thug is an adjetive, which is a descriptive term

For that same demographic, the descriptive term “thug” is a 100% accurate description. In fact, it's a term they proudly use to describe themselves - and their gang

Wrong, the only people at fault here are the parents, who failed to teach their boy that you don’t point guns (real or fake) at people or police because they might shoot you

Mommy and Daddy are the failures here

Your father was right, as most fathers turn out to be.

But who was stupid here? The 12-year-old kid who was waving around a toy gun? Or the trained adult cops who, for some reason, rolled up right next to the kid, and so gave themselves no time to properly evaluate the situation?

I'd say all involved were stupid. But if I were forced to give a most-stupid award, it would go to the cops. They're the trained adults, and they completely ignored the importance of distance in this situation.

It shows him pulling up his coat with one hand and reaching in his waist band with the other.

Then you can see the gun on the ground by Tamirs outstretched hand. The other officer then kicks it away.

12 yr old country kids with Daisy lever action BB guns shooting tin cans along a dirt road is a far cry from a 5’9” 160 lb 12 yr old dressed like a thug brandishing what looks like a real firearm and threatening people in a gang infested hellhole.

According to transcript witness said he stuck the gun in a woman’s fave. Caller also said he was walking around pointing it at people. Caller said, “He’s scaring the s*** out of me!”

I agree with you on this one. He had a toy gun and was pointing it. They said he was “acting a thug” oh gee how do I know he was not pretending to be a G-man? Come on people this was a kid!

Stupid #1 - 12 year old kid who intentionally modified a toy to look like a real gun

Stupid #2 - 12 year old kid who intentionally pointed the real looking gun and others in the park in an attempt to intemidate others and act “gangsta”

Stupid #3 - Police dispatch who received the call and did not pass on the observation by the caller that the gun was probably a toy gun.

Stupid #4 - 12 year old who when police told him to put his hands in the air, raised his shirt, revealing what the officers thought was a real gun.

Stupid #5 - The 12 year old who police claim, reached into his waistband and pulled the replica handgun

The video shows no such thing.

Nope, it sure does. I saw it myself, including an enhanced video in slow motion, which clearly shows him pulling the gun out of his belt, the shirt lifting up. The gun was even found on the floor near the body, proving it was pulled completely out of the belt before he was shot.

"I am sick and tired of the outrage for what is such a justified shooting, yet no outrage for the killing of 7-year-old Amiere Castro, who was killed in a drive-by shooting while playing inside a Richmond Heights house," says Ortiz, who is elected to his post as union president by fellow Miami officers. "Unless you are shot by police, it's not newsworthy or a worthwhile cause by the Blacklivesmatter group."

Notice how any descriptions of bad behavior are becoming tabu because they are essentially the same as using the "N-Word".....pretty soon, one will have to act as if Blacks are invisible to keep from being accused of calling someone "Nigger"....
