Trump Lauds High Court's Thomas, Says Roberts 'Let Us Down'

Chief Justice John Roberts is "disgraceful'' and a "disappointment'' to conservatives, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Saturday, while praising Associate Justice Clarence Thomas as his favorite member of the U.S. Supreme Court.

"Justice Roberts really let us down. What he did with Obamacare was disgraceful, and I think he did that because he wanted to be popular inside the Beltway,'' Trump told about 4,000 supporters.

The celebrity billionaire was referring to the chief justice's two votes to uphold key provisions of President Barack Obama's 2010 health care law and to the expressway around the District of Columbia, an area regarded as the center of U.S. government and politics.

Thomas, arguably one of the court's most conservative members, is "very strong and consistent,'' Trump said.

The GOP front-runner offered his assessment during an hourlong question-and-answer-session with state Attorney General Alan Wilson. The South Carolina Republican is hosting a series of forums in this early voting state to query GOP hopefuls about their theories on constitutional law and the role of the federal government.

I think Obama’s boys may have dug up a few of Roberts’ skeletons but can’t find any on Thomas or Scalia.

Trump certainly says all of the right, conservative things.

Let’s hope it’s based on his own judgement and opinion and not just high-paid consultants telling him what is “conservative”.

I’m unaware of any high paid consultants who think like Trump. Good luck finding them.

Clarence Thomas wrote his own dissent in Kelo, as well as joining the others' dissent. So, I think Thomas let Trump down
