A right you don’t exercise is a right you no longer have. In my state, CC permit holders can bring a firearm onto school property. However it has to stay in your vehicle. Basically it is intended as a convenience for CC holders who are dropping kids off or picking them up. I like the idea of a CC permit holder being aloud to carry inside too. Wish we could.

Is the County Prosecutor totally incompetent and ignorant or is he an aberration?
If the man is an “open carry”, then it is legal and he doesn’t need a CPL permit (unless Michigan law is all screwed up and backwards).
Therefore you can’t make up a charge of “disorderly conduct” or “creating a disturbance”.
While the Sheriff’s Department handled this issue reasonably, I ask the following question.
Does the school in question have an armed security officer on campus during school hours or is it just another “Gun Free Slaughter Zone” for their own children?
I’d rather have an open-carry or even licensed concealed carry (and trained) adult in my child’s school than not.
However, perhaps a compromise could be than both an Open or Concealed Carry Licensed adult should notify that school that they have their weapon BEFORE they come in for a visit (and perhaps CHECK their weapon at the front desk while there).
My daughter open-carried in her child’s school and the principal was happy to have someone there (because the school had security fence breeches and were very close to a jogging trail and main highway that would have allowed a kidnapper to get away in seconds.
The prosecutor should be suspended and sent back to law school to relearn the Constitution and state laws.
