“SOMETING TO WATCH: The media has started to revive Carson (with 100% positive reporting), he is being used to bleed off votes from Trump in Iowa.”

I don’t think they’ll have much luck there - but I agree, Carson is really THE LAST HOPE the GOPe has at getting someone that they can control.

I don’t think Trump would have had a shot in a different place and time. It really is the perfect storm for him.

GOPE just aren’t getting it that Republicans are fed up with Immigration and Terrorism.

The more the Syrians come..the more the Mexicans come..the more the Terrorists blow stuff up..the stronger Trump gets.

That's been my main reservation about Carson all along. Nice guy but clearly in over his head. Within 6 months of inauguration he'd be just reading the speeches given to him by his handlers.

I do not like seeing Jeb in double digits.

Lindsey Graham: 1 percent

What is swimming around in Guber's pea brain? Do the decent thing and close up shop. You have a job to do in the Senate and they apparently love you in South Carolina??

Interesting synopsis. If Trump stays around 35-40% nationally...wouldn’t that be nearly impossible to beat?

Not nearly impossible, totally impossible. That's why you're seeing more and more people saying "yeah, this could happen" lately. Of course, there's only one poll that's touched anything like 40 nationally, and that feels a bit high to me, but your point is taken.

The unknown is what if Cruz, for example, is really within 2 of Trump in Iowa although he is 20-25 behind nationally? There's a recent poll showing that. What if he is able to tie, beat, or almost beat Trump in Iowa on Caucus Day. Will those national polls stay where they are? One of the really screwy things about our nominating process is that a teeny tiny population in Iowa, and then an even tinier population in NH, quite often move the national needle involving tens of millions.

I'm not predicting any of this, just going through some what if possibilities.

I remember the good ole days when Karl Rove predicted Trump wouldn’t break through Trump’s then current 25% polling “ceiling” (Rove’s description)

Absent an alien abduction Trump is the GOP nominee. If Rubio was at 35% Tokyo, Kraut et al would be declaring the race was over.

I tend to agree with you. If we nominate just another establishment politician (i.e. Rubio, Jebbie Bush), then Shrillary, despite being the vile nasty woman she is, will have the story angle going for her (first woman president).

Like it or not, most Americans aren't into politics like we are here on Free Republic so they will say "Hey, first black president, that's cool" - and elect Obama for no other good reason. It will be the same with Shrillary. "Hey, first woman president, cool, let's vote her in!"

But Trump will have the story going for him. Never held elective office before. A true outsider who will surely shake up Washington and truly change things. This easily trumps "first woman president" - especially with the Marxist gasbag we have in the running.

how he can continue to fake donors out and expect cash flow..”

I think it’s the other way around. They’re using the money to keep him in out of fear of Trump. See the article on The Hill this morning abiut republican donors choosing Hillary over Trump.
