On a different issue, did you happen to see my post where I asked the Union supporters "If secession is illegal, then why did the Union support the secession of West Virginia from Virginia?"

They were in all too big of a hurry to regard that bit of secession as perfectly valid.

So how can a piece of a state break off and be perfectly legal, and an entire state cannot do it?

They didn't come back with any rational answers. :)
