Melina, Reparations can only happen if White guilt still exists. It does not. The time to have tried for that was under the liberal Civil Rights administrations of the 60s and 70s. Remember; Civil Rights legislation of that period was won by a majority of Republican White guys, that beat fanatical Democrat White guys in favor of Segregation,laws preventing Blacks from voting, and the Racist status quo. There is the irony, Melina. You are trying to substitute Shaming through Political Correctness to achieve your goal; for the Moral Imperative that that drove White Conscience from religious Republican Abolitionists that produced the Emancipation Proclamation, to riding the Freedom Bus a century later. Many White People gave their lives for their conscience that ended slavery. Most White people believed Dr. King on Equal Opportunity. To them it meant Affirmative Action in Education and Employment; it did not mean, or ever will, Reparations for ongoing generations two centuries later. Reparations is, however, another kind of bait to keep Black people on the Democratic Party Hook. It is another Transparent political Fraud to keep the Black vote coming in, by offering something for nothing; that somehow never comes to pass. Bottom line: False shame can never replaced Genuine acts of conscience--Black or White. What have you receive from a lifetime of empty promises; such is this one, and who has profited by them. Yes, Johnson and the Democrats were the Devil at the Crossroads offering them the Great Society deal. However, nobody forced American Negroes to sell their freedom and future in return for the promise of an easy, immoral life. It’s all on them.

The real shame is the havoc that their decision has wrought on America. Too many American Negroes have helped the Democrats slip the slave collars on us, the productive members of society, to pay for their destructive indolence.

Some of those NorthEastern Republicans were no doubt motivated by a sense of moral outrage. The rest were just rubbing their hands together gleeful contemplating the prospect of all that raw power which would be delivered into their hands when they added 10+ Million new Black Voters to the Republican roles.

Then that Racist Southern Democrat Lyndon Johnson outsmarted them and "flipped the script" on their power grab. He used government money to bribe all those new non-tax paying voters that the Republicans thought they were going to get.

After the advent of "the Great Society" (voter bribe scheme) The Black vote was safely in the hands of the Democrats for the next 50 years.

So in effect, the Power grab, or Moralizing, or whatever it was, set the nation on a path to financial destruction. We have spent 21 trillion dollars on the "war on poverty". Poverty is worse than ever, we have feral criminals who are the consequence of the broken families, the upheaval caused by this vote buying scheme, and it has kept the most Evil party in power for the last fifty years.

And we have those North Eastern Republicans who pushed the 24th amendment to thank for this horrible mess they created.

This is a prime example of that old adage, "The Road to Hell is paved with good intentions."

What do you think an answer might be? I realize we cant just restore the Black American family by wishing , but perhaps would an effort by inner and suburban city churches to offer scholarships for youngsters that want more for their lives and jump start them in business, before influence of the gangs take over? Could this be, at least in a limited way,an alternative to the seductive song of the Democratic Party; whose empty promises have done so much harm?

Yes we are. I stay up late on Friday and Saturday nights just to play Carnage Chicago on my PS4. Sometimes I get bored and play Carnage Detroit, Baltimore, St Louise, Memphis, Atlanta, DC, …. I sometimes play Grand Theft Walgreens, CVS … in California. I get boarded trying to stuff 999.99 into a backpack. I do like the new Sim City homeless edition California 2022.
