I arrived on a ship in 1956 that was crowded with white, educated Europeans. I am still in touch with my fellow passengers and am amazed how all of us have become successful in our new home. The journey across the Atlantic was a rough one and the ship itself, the “ZUIDERKRUIS” has been converted into razor blades in Balboa, Spain.
Wow. A decade later I traveled the other direction for a post-college months-long tour of Europe on the Groote Beer, from the same trio of Dutch "Victory Ships." So glad I went when I did. Things will never be Europe again.
