Quentin Tarantino: boycotting my movie over my stupid comments violates my 1st Amendment rights

A boycott of your latest opus is a way for the people you've offended to make their speech heard

As you’re probably aware, filmmaker Quentin Tarantino attended an October 24 rally against police brutality. There, he declared “I’m a human being with a conscience. And when I see murder I cannot stand by. And I have to call the murdered the murdered and I have to call the murderers the murderers.”

After his comments ignited a firestorm of controversy, Tarantino indicated that he was only speaking about specific cases, saying: “in those cases in particular that we’re talking about, I actually do believe that they were murder. Now, in the case of Walter Scott, who was the man running in the park and was shot in the back, and the case of Sam DuBose, I believe those were murder, and they were deemed murder. And the reason — and the only reason they were deemed murder is because the incidences were caught on video.”

No it doesn’t, Q-ball. You exercised your 1st Amendment rights and we are exercising our preferences. Your films are grossly violent. BLM is a racist terrorist group that supports the murder of innocent white people. The don’t give jack about justice.

If you speak like a jerk then you’ll have to suffer the consequences of speaking like a jerk. Jerk.

“Yeah. I was surprised. I was under the impression I was an american and that I had 1st Amendment rights, and there was no problem with me going to an anti-police brutality protest, and speaking my mind.

The idiot doesn't even understand what the 1st Amendment is about. A boycott of his film has absolutely nothing to do with his 1st Amendment rights.

Wow. During his 52 years in this great country, he has yet to have even a rudimentary understanding of the Constitution. Perhaps a college extension course is in order for him.

The boycott is a way for millions of Americans to exercise their right not to support a douchebag and his movies. He better hope he never needs a cop to save his life. I know that I would have to think twice before I risked my life for such an idiot.

No, it’s not a violation of your 1st amendment rights, it Americans deciding that they don’t want to support a moron who incites violence against the police.

I heard this guy had a 160 IQ. He doesn’t think I have first amendment rights as well to express my opinion?

This and his father said he would have been a serial killer had he not found film.

How to destroy your reputation in one week. He should make a movie about it.

Accepting his flawed knowledge of what the First Amendment is, let me see if his tiny brain can absorb these facts:
1. Your First Amendment right is not absolute (you can’t yell “Fire” in a crowded theater; you can’t make threats, etc.)
2. Your rights do not override other people’s rights
3. A boycott is nothing more than exercising one’s freedom of association; which is also a First Amendment right.

Come back tomorrow for a primer on Freedom OF Religion.

You know, I watched the entire speech at the event and an interview with QT explaining his thought process and, quite frankly, he made a good deal of sense. The police unions are really over reacting about this and many FReepers are falling for it hook, line and sinker.

The First Amendment is the First Amendment FOR EVERYONE and we should be alarmed that the unionized cops want to stiffle free speech regardless of the content.

“I was surprised. I was under the impression I was an american and that I had 1st Amendment rights”

Yes, you do have 1st Amendments rights. You said what you said. Now, my 1st Amendment rights enables me to call you an idiot. The 1st Amendment doesn’t mandate that you only can speak your mind only, or that we have to roll over and remain mute.

Maybe he should get an education before he opens his trap.

I respect your intentions in saying that, but I don't see how the cops are "stifling" anyone's rights. A boycott is not stifling, it's a time-honored non-violent response.

IMHO, "stifling" would occur when violence is involved, or when the target is subjected to expensive and frivolous lawsuits, that sort of thing.

First amendment rights for me and not for thee.

How typically liberal.

Has the government imposed some sort of punishment on him?

No?

Then, unlike a number of Christians who's First Amendment rights WERE violated by government imposed punishment, Quentin Tarantino's rights have not been violated.

So take your medicine like a good little boy.
