As Rush said, conservatives who don’t stick to conservative principles at all times and fall for liberal shibboleths, turn into liberals. As you’ve perfectly demonstrated by believing (or pretending to believe) that Trump is a “racist” for asking an innocent question.

The point is that a candidate is foolish to agree to a platform like that, where any questioner can hide behind the “no labels” mask and really be a hit man for a particular party, opposing candidate, or ideology.
Hey, Choe...who gives a rat’s ass what SK pays? The American tax payer foots a huge bill for our military to protect countries like yours and many countries in Europe...so that they can spend that money on socialist programs.
I say it’s time to pack up our military from all of those countries and let them sink economically or be taken over since they haven’t the revenue to rebuild their militaries.

Ah yes...we all did that! And the answers ranged from which county in Ireland, Scotland, England, France, northern or southern Italy...where in Portugal. .or Poland or Scandinavia. It was fun, it was interesting and harmless. We were diverse, but no one told us we HAD to be. In the end, we were just happy to be American.

Yes. He’s all over twitter in Korean - another “activist” college child hoping to have a career in activism and world saving. And yet there are folks here crying over his brutal treatment at the hands of mean old white man Trump.

Trump was trying to ascertain whether the boy (yes, I use that term to put him down, because he was a plant) was of SK descent and whose loyalties were still with SK.
If a woman in a Burqa stood up and started trying to “get the facts straight” regarding terrorism in Syria, it would be apropos of any candidate to ascertain whether they were from that country and had some personal, vested interest in asking the question.
Unfortunately, the observations you’ve made based upon life with your wife, are true for nearly all immigrants.
Indians care about India or Indians in this country.
Asians for Asia and Asians.
Islamists for the CalipHate and Muslims.
Latinos for their South-of-the-Border countries and Latinos.
However, if white Americans dare say anything in defense of our heritage and culture...they call us the racists.
Actually - lets look at it a different way than you’re saying.
If there’s a slight obvious visual possibility that the questioner has a vested or sentimental interest in the matter at hand - the person answering would be foolish NOT to consider that and answer with a more astute perspective and empathy. That’s just the way the world is made.
What could be considered racist if Choe said “No, I’m from China” and Trump cavalierly said “Same difference...” - but he didn’t. I think it’s more of what I said - a desire to empathize with the perspective the questioner asks from.
