I realize cops have a tough job and never know what they are going to run into - but this shooting at dogs stuff really needs to be addressed...

It’s like if there is a dog present there is an open season to start shooting....

This one in particular is not going to end well for the Columbus PD...

Don’t the Postal Carriers carry mace?

My guess is this little girl was chasing after her dog and got shot... Bad Policing IMO.. Hell this wasn’t even a criminal 911 call...

I live in the country and my dogs look fierce, but they are woosies down to the last bark. The Sheriffs Department, the Fire Department, and the Tax Assessors have been around for one reason or the other. They ignore the dogs. The Mailman, FedEx and UPS guys carry dog biscuits. The gang who was burglarizing our neighbors used biscuits, and they took the dog along with all the other stuff.

Bottom line is that nothing requires gunfire, unless you are confronted with someone with a gun and a wild look in their eye.

I’m too lazy to build it, but can imagine an emergency response logic diagram they’re following, something along the lines of:

Is a dog present? Yes - shoot it. No - is a whiny crying child present? Yes - shoot it. No - oh well, respond to said emergency.
