Retailers sold more than $11 million of marijuana during Oregon's first week of legal recreational sales, outpacing the early business done in other states that have legalized pot, according to the Oregon Retailers of Cannabis Association.
Oregon retailers had sales of $3.5 million by the end of opening day, Casey Houlihan, executive director of the association, told the Statesman Journal ( http://is.gd/6L3fPc ). By contrast, Colorado's first week of sales reached $5 million. In Washington, sales during the first month hit $2 million....

Doritos sales are also through the roof.
My go to was David and sons sunflower seeds until my tounqe was raw from the salt and such
Portland is already freaky enough with all the runaways, drug addicts and other stoners.
Oh well, more “hippy johnnys” means less competition for the rest of us.
Track 11 on The Modern Lovers
I’m Straight Lyrics
The Modern Lovers
I called this number three
Times already today
But I, I got scared, I put it back in place
I put my phone back in place
I still don’t know if I
Should have called up
Look, just tell me why don’t you
If I’m out of place
Cause here’s your chance to make me feel awkward
And wish that I
Had never even called up this place
I saw you though today
Walk by with hippie Johnny
I had to call up and say how I want to take his place
So this phone call today concerns
Hippie Johnny
He’s always stoned, he’s never straight
I saw you today, you know, walk by with hippie Johnny
Look, I had to call up and say, I want to take his place
See he’s stoned, hippie Johnny
Now get this, I’m straight
And I wanna take his place
Now look, I like him too, I like
Hippie Johnny
But I’m straight
And I want to take his place
I said, I’m straight
I said, I’m straight
I’m proud to say
Well I’m straight
And I wanna take his place
Now I’ve watched you walk around here
I’ve watched you meet
These new boyfriends, I know
And you tell how they’re deep
Look but, if these guys, if they’re really so great
Tell me, why can’t they at least take this place and take it straight?
Why always stoned, like hippie Johnny is?
I’m straight and I want to take his place
Oh I’m certainly not stoned, like hippie Johnny is
I’m straight and I want to take his place
I said, I’m straight
I said, I’m straight
I’m
I’m straight and I want to take his place
All right you Modern Lovers what do you say?
(I’m straight!)
Tell the world now
(I’m straight!)
That’s it
(I’m straight!)
Yeah I’m straight and I want to take his place
Could that be the real reason for Obama’s visit?
Love the pic!
This isn’t new money, but probably means the $11 million spent on legal dope is cheaper than dope on the street. Maybe it’s enough cheaper that more people smoke more. With these kind of sales, the state needs to jack up their dope tax.
Maybe they’ll forget to vote
I wanted to see a pic of the dude who called the cops saying he was too high found curled up in doritos. Think it was in a state where it is illegal.
Those Oregonians must have a lot of money stashed in their mattresses.
Does Portland still have the Pancho Villa statue; or is that Theodore Roosevelt? My memory fails, but I was there in the summer of 1998.
I don’t know of one in Portland. I think there’s one in Tuscon though.
Definitely Tucson; the Villa and TR statues resemble!
I visited Portland Ore. for several months in the 70s and was amazed at how many non-minorities were on welfare and food stamps . The young folks there tried to encourage me not to spend my earned money on every day things but to also apply for the free bees . I was in total disbelief . Today I find the situation in Ore. to be just as I would have expected .
Curled up in a pile of Doritos and Goldfish!
And told the cops his pot was is his car and oh here are the keys!
Does not compute.
These were untaxed sales. The tax will kick in in January.
