Ian Fleming was friends with the owner of Purdy back in the 50s and 60s. Major Bootheroyd (the real guy) corrected Fleming who had used the wrong designation for a Beretta .25. Fleming asked him several questions and they corresponded for a while and Fleming used his character in “Dr. No”.
It turned out that the Purdey guy had already corrected Fleming on the .25. Surprising to me that he was even familiar with those tiny guns.
