Somerville hangs ‘Black Lives Matter’ banner at City Hall (Massachusetts)

Somerville city officials hung a large banner bearing the words “Black Lives Matter” on the front of City Hall on Wednesday morning in solidarity with the grassroots movement that has spread across the country following the recent shooting deaths of unarmed black men by police.

Mayor Joe Curtatone said he worked with members of Black Lives Matter Cambridge , a local offshoot of the national organization, to create the banner and show support for their message.

“We see this as an important opportunity for an important national conversation” about race, Curtatone said. He said the move was “a very clear statement we are making to the community that we recognize that structural racism exists in our society; it exists in our public and private institutions.”

By hanging the banner, Curtatone said, he is calling on other cities to help foster conversations about improving race relations.

The 4-foot-by-12-foot banner, a symbol of the beginning of a collaboration with the group, will stay up “as long as it has to” to drive the message home that Somerville is a city determined to strengthen trust between government agencies and people in the community, and treat everyone equally and fairly, Curtatone said....

Race Relations weren’t that bad until Obama stirred it all up as President. In fact, whatever problems there were, were kind of working their way out as the years went by. If you want Race Relations to get better, don’t elect political oportunist like President Obama.

On a bit of a different note:, I say we start taking “Black Lives Matter” signs to pro-life marches. n time, The fake “Black Lives Matter” race-relations movement will be drowned out by the very real “Black Lives Matter” Pro-life movement. This is called beating them at their own game.

Now, would someone with more time and energy than I have go out into the world and make my idea a reality? It’s a winner!!

So, I guess white, brown, yellow and red lives don’t matter? Nice. ALL lives matter, bozos! Especially those in the womb fighting for their lives against the PP Nazi butchers wanting to “harvest” their body parts.

Foster a conversation? Let’s be clear: it is entirely apparent that #BlackLivesMatter really means #BlackLivesMatterIfUsefulToTheLeft and/or #OnlyBlackLivesMatter. Neither of those is a basis for a real conversation about race relations.

BTW, #AllLivesMatter. If any lurkers think that is racist, may I suggest you look in a mirror?

This looks like an editorial cartoon in ‘Harper’s Weekly’ about the Rock Springs, Wyoming massacre of Chinese railroad workers in 1885.
