The Left has any number of excuses for why Socialism doesn't work somewhere else.

My personal favorite it that, somehow, if they could get rid of everyone who doesn't believe in the Ultimate Victory of Marxism, it would be Unicorns and Skittles, all over the world. After they dispose of all the bodies.
